N.J. State Troopers Accused In Alleged Sex Assault

EWING, N.J. (CBS 3) ―

Authorities in Mercer County are investigating claims that one or more members of the New Jersey State Police were involved in an alleged sexual assault.

In a news release issued by the prosecutor's office stated a 25-year-old Ewing Township resident has alleged she was sexually assaulted by "multiple male individuals including one or more members of the New State Police" during the early morning hours of December 7.

In response to the allegations, Sgt. Jones of the New Jersey State Police said:

"Once the division was made aware of the allegations, aggressive steps were taken to ensure full and complete cooperation with this investigation. The superintendent has directed all appropriate State Police resources to be made available in support of the Mercer County Prosecutors Office."

At this time the investigation is on-going and no charges have been filed.

Authorities said any trooper found to be involved in the alleged assault will be suspended with pay until the outcome of the investigation is determined.

and they will get suspended WITH pay until the investigation is complete if they are found to be involved. I am happy to know our tax dollar support such a worthy cause.

I hope they find something soon. They need to put an end to misconduct like this. I also hope this isn't some kind of false report for revenge. All of our tax money is going down the drain.

The so called blue wall, will protect these corrupt and blemish and law enforcement. I haven't been able to ever understand why good officers go out of their way to protect the scum that tarnish their profession.

Suspended WITH pay is policy. It is at this point only an aqusation. If any office is found to have done this deed they will serve time, loose their job and certification, plus their pension.

Raped by "multiple male individuals including one or more members of the New State Police" ? This story has more to it than is being told so far.

If guilty, they should fry. We've had a case here like this and the guy was so stupid he assaulted a girl on the hood of his car with the dash cam running!!!

I realise the significance of it being an "allegation" at the moment, but in such a serious case I cannot accept the accused perpertrator should be suspended with pay. It gives other police a very bad name. In Australia we are in an absolute uproar at the moment as a judge has let off several men accused of gang raping a ten year old, saying the child probably consented and the prosecutor signed off on it!!
The judge and prosecutor have been sacked, thank God, and the DPP is trying to reverse the judgement. We live in such awful times and you are doing a great job of bringing truth to the people Janelle. Keep it up.

as a person of color in this country, i have been aware that i cannpt trust those that are here to "protect and serve". i hope that the woman involved has access to counseling and medical care. being assaulted by "several indiciduals" regardless who they are are has got to be mentally taxing.

i am saddened that a judge could even THINK that a 10 year old could have the mental faclties to "consent" to a gang bang. i hope that the judge gets the appropriate response from his constituents.

i can't believe that police units are doing more to get folks like this out of uniform. it's these guys that make people like me hate the police with a passion. all is takes (unfortunately) is one bad experience to make you feel like the boys in blue are all against you.

My first thought was "with pay?" Anybody else would be locked up on suspition of sexual assault. at least in a perfect world.

I agree with Donna.....why "with pay"? Just the fact that their names are implicated should be enough. I know, I know....inocent until proven guilty..... but suspending pay until cleared (or not) might deter others from participating in actions like this..... If cleared, then their pay can be reinstated and paid up to the time it was suspended. Otherwise, throw the book at them!

Why would you suspend someone's pay based solely on an allegation. Anyone can make an allegation. These guys have expenses (Car Payment, Mortgage, etc.) just like everyone else. I don't think they should be penalized until it's proven that the accusation has some merit.

Living in NJ, this doesn't suprise me one bit. I worked for the state and know first handed the corruption that is involved here. The unfortunate thing is that due to the unions, these officers are guaranteed their salary until the investigation is completed. I only hope that it is completed quickly and that the young lady is offered the proper psychological care she will need at the officers expense.
