Dumpster Diving can bring in some good money believe it or not. It is a like a underground world! Have you ever done it? We have, we did it for a few weeks... We know a woman who dove inside a liquor store's dumpster and found TONS of unopened and good liquor, so she took it, they were going out of bisness *I think*.... We once went to Sears and there was a bunch of really big sheds outside, but they were too big for Laurie and I to pick up...We could of sold them for hundreds of dollars if we could of just stuffed them in our car..haha. It's legal...as long as the dumpsters do not say "private property" some of them do, some dont. However, with the mass production of many items, along come mass trash! A lot of the bigger stores have HUGE dumpsters and you can not get into them.
When we go, we stick to smaller stores.... here is a website to help you if you are thinking of going on some dives. Good luck! : ) It's not as gross as it seems, its kinda fun & make sure you don't go alone, bring someone!!!!
there are a few "tools" that will help you out..You'll need a stool, a flashlight, and something that can reach into the dumpsters and grab things... Like a really long stick, or one of the grabber things....Also, you shouldnt be spending more than 30 seconds or so looking into the dumpster. Look, use your light if you dont see anything right away, go to your next site. You don't want to be caught by someone. :)
These are just a few tricks, are you gunna do it? Here is the site? http://members.aol.com/TheDumpsterLady/thedumpsterlady.htm

We go on the nights our town has big pickup.. Like 1 every few months they allow you to put out furniture and all kinds of bigger things and we have gone on one of them nights.. Got an awesome couch that was like brand new.. it was a love seat actually but was clean and came from a nice hom I knew the people they are the kind to throw stuff away to not have to mess with it. Also I have seen people get baby walkers and high chairs and all kinds of things dressers are fun! Yes these days are fun!
I know a woman who furnished her house with thing she got from the dump site. It is not a bad deal. Our disposal site is our free for the taking store. I live between towns so I have two that I go to occasionally. At least once a week I have a van full to get rid of so I kind of alternate.
College Towns are great for the devoted scrounge. At the end of the school year there are tons of stuff set out on the streets by the college kids who have graduated and are moving on. When I lived in Nacadochhes Texas it was almost an annual event. No colleges around here though.
Recycling is good for the planet. So, in a sense we're doing our part to save our Mother Earth. :0)
What a just and noble cause.
Sometimes it's amazing what people throw away. Perfectly good items.
If a person had a lot of time they could probably go around and furnish a second hand store and make some money.
My husband and I once rummaged through a shoe stores dump looking for some shoe boxes the kids needed for a project. We found all kinds of shoes BRAND NEW in there. We all got new shoes that night!
But I'm not going in alone! LOL
Sounds like something I need to tell a particular friend about, though.
Also, never dive into a dumpster too deep to climb out of!
