What am I going to do.....

This is terrible. 
My port to put my camera memory card into my computer to upload photos is broken... 

It will not acknowledge my card anymore, when I slide it in.. 

 This wouldn't be a problem if I had a USB chord for my camera, but my camera is 4-5years old, and since we have had this computer, we havn't used the USB anymore to upload, because it was easier to just slide the card in the port to upload.  So I searched and searched the house for the USB to this camera, and we don't have it.  I found a few other USB's and tried them but none of them worked.  I tried the one for my video camera, and the one for the camera that Madeline threw in the toilet and destroyed, those didn't work either. 
Maybe I have to have a Nikon USB, because every brand seemed to be a bit different.

But this really stinks for me, I can't upload any new pics, and my card is getting full.

My video camera takes photos, but the quality is kinda crappy so I usually only use it for video. 

 

Allright, I am done whining now, this just has me quite upset, because my camera is one thing I cannot live without.

You can go to any radio shack or simialr store and pick up another USB cord fairly cheap. That is what I did when I bought a camera froma card sale that doesn't come with one. I gave that camera to my teen thou. So, I never use it,. But it works just fine.

You should be able to find a new cord at a camera store (Ritz or similar) or even on ebay!

I do plan on getting a chord, but right now even just a few $ I can't afford.
So I just have to wait a little while...

I just needed to whine about it a bit, because I have been upset about not being able to upload any new photos.

I would call radio shack see if they can help you out! I doubt a usb cord would be too expensive. Good luck

I looked on Ebay, but the thing is, I want to make sure that the chord will fit my camera before i buy it, and so I don't want to buy something, and then find that it won't fit

You should be able to get a new chord relatively cheaply. Check eBay too under camera accessories for your camera model. In the meantime, you can take that card to a friends house who has a media card reader and see if the memory card is bad or if it's definitely the port. Zip up the files and email them to yourself.

Amanda go to radio shack or someplace take your camera ask them what one you would need then come home and there you go you can get it on ebay. Sorry hope you get it fixed

Marianne, it is the port, because I have 2 cards. My sister just gave me the card to her old camera, so that I had an extra one for taking photos, when we went to Montana for Christmas. Neither cards would work.
It seems the problem is tho, that some of the little tiny wires are bent so the card will not go all the way in. The card I use is the Compact Flash, and it has little holes, that wires in the computer go into...

I wish I could take it to a friends, but since moving to FL I still have yet to make many friends, especially since I don't work, so I don't get out much. So I wish I had somewhere I could take it, but I don't. :( The friends we do have, down here, don't live in the same town.

ahh! I hope that you find it! If you dont find it maybe you can look on Ebay for a new cord. maybe someone is selling one, you never know!

The first time I looked on Ebay, I didn't see any that said my camera type next to compatabilty, But I just went back on ebay, and instead of typing in USB cord, I typed in my camera model, and was able to find a USB cord for 49cents, that I bid on. It says it is compatible with my camera!
I could have done BUy it now for 99cents, but I figure, there is another of the same cord on there by the same seller so If someone happens to outbid me on this, I will just buy the other one.
THe shipping is $3.99 so not bad if I get it for 4.49!!

I don't have a media card center on this laptop, but I do have one on the dead desktop. What I did was buy a flash drive like media card reader. It connects to my usb port and all is well now. It only was I think $15 or $20. Pretty inexpensive.

That really sucks. If you do ebay, you could check there or maybe take it to an electronics store and see if they sell a generic one.

BTW, thank you for all of the comments you left me. I stopped counting at 40. I return comments, so you have tons coming from me. I'll be waiting to see them since I owe youe 40 plus. You must be one of the biggest reasons I was able to get another GC so fast. THANK YOU!!

I found one on ebay for real cheap, so I am getting it.
But now I am having problems with one of the memory cards working in my camera.
which sucks because I have several pics of my daughter on it, and some butterfly photos, and a few other things...
