Forgive me

for all the wrongs i have done myself

for all the times i had treated myself

like i would not like others to treat me

Forgive me

for asking you to love me

when i could not love you in return

Forgive me for seeing you in your hour of need

and destroying knowing that i was unable to build

destroying what little light that burned that night

when i turned my back and said

no more!

I put you outside

left you in the rain

and never gave it a second thought

till she came and let you in

and took you away .

So now you have a new home

like a stray cat that has found a warm pillow

you run around exploring your territory

admiring your new mistress

who has seen you in distress

and has let you inside

while i left you out

hoping that you would

change and learn to give back

what i needed most of all

approval, submission, admiration

that i am worth all that

oh, how could i have ever loved

that cat?

I that have always been a dog person

and have always admired that unashamed

way of affection on display

when you look away

the dog is always there

but a cat,

oh, that is an eternal

heart break.
