With an infant and a toddler, I don't have time for television or scheduled programs on the radio. I work from home, so I get very little adult human interaction. My life is filled with diapers, nursing breaks, and chasing my son to keep him from ripping the house apart. My husband works 3rd shift, so I barely see him. That leaves 3 cats for my companions, which is sorely lacking at times!
However, with my video iPod, I've become truly addicted to podcasts. There are professional podcasts, like the ABCNews podcast. There are simply audio copies of shows, like Nightline. There are educational podcasts like the Mayo Clinic's Medical edge, or MyTrivia podcast. There are even podcasts of the old time radio shows like Johnny Dollar and the Mercury Theater, and even Superman. And then there are homegrown podcasts, which are usually very well done. Of course there's the Manic Mommies, momtalk radio, and Mommycast. There are great parenting podcasts like Pediacast, the Mighty Mommy's Quick and Dirty tips for Practical Parenting, and so on. And of course, there is a dizzying array of computer and technology podcasts (Leo Laporte is my hero!).
Do you listen to podcasts? Which are your favorite ones? How many podcasts do you subscribe to? I subscribe to 131 podcasts right now (why yes, I AM nuts, thanks for noticing!). Since my husband works 3rd shift, I also listen to podcasts in bed to help me sleep. Where do you listen to your podcasts? Do you have an iPod or other mp3 player that you listen to your podcasts on, or do you just use your computer? Do you use iTunes or another podcast aggregator, like the Yahoo or google podcast aggregators?
