What do you have?  Do you have an artificial or a live tree?  Do you think one is better for the enviroment or do you care?

I have an artificial tree, and have never had to recycle the tree.  I have had a few real trees over the years but prefer the pre-lit artificial  tree.

Artificial. I don't have to vaccuum up the needles or make sure it has water. Besides, our enviroment needs trees.

Neither. With no family or friends...and a recently flooded home waiting for new carpet to be installed...I haven't even decorated yet...and may not even bother. I'm not about to put everything up only take have to take it all down so everything can be moved to put the new carpet down. It's going to be just another day for me anyway...nothing special planned.

i am allergic but it is important to my husband to have a real tree. I have conceeded but on the condition we take it to the place that makes them into mulch when we are done with it. They give us a bag of last years trees that were mulched and have been "seasoned". It is a great program. It makes him happy so I don't mind sniffling a few weeks. He is really great with doing chores and helping around the house and doesn't really ask for much. PLus it is alot of fun taking the kids and spending the day with his family together walking through the fields picking out the "perfect" trees.

Artificial for me. I am allergic to pine trees (took them a while to figure out why I was sick every Christmas). I haven't put my tree up in a few years but I have a manger that I like and two wire deer that are suppose to be in the yard but I like them better standing at the foot of the stairs and a Santa that plays violin music. Not traditional I know but things that I enjoy.

I would like to have a real one but my son's girlfriend is allergic so we will have an artificial this year.

We have an artificial tree because of my allergies! It's nice not having a Christmas cold the entire season!

Artificial due to my allergies. Wonder why we are all so allergic to things we were not allergic to just 20 or 30 years ago?

Oh, never mind this is a real vs artificial question not an allergy question! LOL

We have a natural pine tree that's growing outside in the front yard, so we decorate that, in addition to our smaller artificial ones inside. I like the Christmas Vacation movie where they have the real tree decorated, then discover that they also brought in a squirrel with it! I think our squirrels would also like to come in to share our Christmas, but Dad hasn't acquiesced to that (yet!). Have a great one and thanks for posting this!

Artificial. Used to do the real pines/firs/cedars, still finding needles in the carpet 4 years after the last real tree. Got tired of dealing with the mess. Not to mention how expensive they've gotten.

I like real for their smell..but I gave in a couple years ago & went artificial. Safer less mess. As far as enviroment, I don't think it makes a big difference. The trees used for them are grown only for that purpose, and artificial trees will last for years..dont often end up in landfills.

When we lived in PA we would go to a tree farm to pick one to be cut down. It was great with the fresh smell. Then one of my children broke out from touching the tree and we switched to artificial. I bought a new one last year with the light already in it!

I've always loved the real ones and having the smell in the house. We had an artificial for a few years, then got cats and they starte pulling the limbs out so we quit having a tree altogether. This year I got brave and bought a 4-ft real tree and put it up on an end table. So far so good, the cats aren't trying to climb it and have only pulled a few ornaments off.

I have a fake tree because I don't want to deal with pine needles all over the floor, plus it would set my allergies off.

I personally could care less-artificial or real. It's whatever floats someones boat. Personally, I go for the artificial as it is easier to maintain, less work, less money.

I have an artifical tree. It looks real, and it is easier to deal with. I've also heard to many horror stories of real trees to want one.
I have an artificial one. I've had it for years.

I LOVE the artificial prelit trees, but we had a TIME looking for one this year! We FINALLY found one at Hobby Lobby but they didn't have it in stock. I talked to the manager about getting the floor model and made sure that I could return it if it didn't work,which after seeing the teenagers that took it down and literally STUFFED it into the box, I was glad I had! We got the tree home and OF COURSE half of the lights DIDN'T work! My daughter and I took the tree back the next day to find out that they wouldn't give me my monyback until they were sure that my check had cleared! (10 days) Meanwhile, since the tree was OVER $200.00 we couldn't afford to get another one until we got the money back for this one!
Needless to say that after all THAT mess we went and got a real one! We didn't get our tree up till about the 8th of Dec. when we usually put it up on Thanksgiving or before!
