My son is a freshman in high school. He calls me yesterday around 9:30 and tells me he's in the nurse's office because he's sick and can't stay away. I ask to talk to the nurse and she tells me he could be coming down with a cold but he doesn't need to go home. I relay this message to him and tell him to call me after lunch if he still doesn't feel well. Of course, I get the second phone call, Mom, I just ate my lunch. I think I need to come home. When can you come get me. I ask to speak to the nurse again and she tells me she'll let him lay down for about 15 minutes and send him back to class. I didn't hear from him again the rest of the school day. When he got home, he called me and told me "You're a good mom. You know I wasn't feeling that bad and you were right not to come get me". I was like Wow, did he really say that. Just when you wonder do they listen to anything you ever say to them, something like this happens. I was very proud of him because I know he didn't have to admit to me that I was right.
