There is no question that NBC is one of the most liberal broadcast networks around. Over on MSNBC, they have Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann. They have given, not sold but given, Al Gore more than 35 hours of time to peddle his global warming propaganda with no such allowance for the other side.
Â
But their latest action takes the cake. It is, in the words of Newt Gingrich, one of the most outrageously offensive broadcast decisions ever made. I would have to agree.
Â
NBC has refused to play a 30 second PAID ad which is already running on my favorite liberal cable news outlet, CNN, which features a broad cross section of Americans saying Thank You to our troops currently serving.
I watched the ad. It doesn't promote any agenda except to say thank you for the incredible sacrifices and service of our troops. Members of our military deserve our undying gratitude not this shoddy treatment. Ostensibly, the ad was refused because it includes the website of Freedom's Watch at the conclusion of the ad.Â
Â
Even allowing for the fact that FW is a conservative organization, all they are doing is helping us say Thank You to these brave men and women. The decision astonishes me and some are calling for a boycott of NBC. I have to support that call although a boycott will make no change whatsoever in my viewing habits since I stopped watching NBC several years ago.
Â
Go here to check out the ad (which is also posted on YouTube) :

Â
And if you agree that NBC has crossed a line that should never be crossed, go here to sign a petition asking them to air the ad:

Â
There should be nothing political about thanking our troops while they are far away from home doing their jobs while we sit at home and let them.

This just makes me so mad, these military people have done nothing to NBC. I hope NBC looses all kinds of ratings and viewers. It would serve them right. I am glad that someone is taking the time to take this petition around.
Thanks to you Nancy, for calling our attention to this news worthy article.
As for MSNBC your failure to mention Tucker Carlson, and Joe Scarbough suggests the you are not looking for balance you are looking for a strictly conservative point of view.
As for the Freedom Watch ad while it is less controversial than some of their previous ads, as a result of the reaction to those and the reaction to the Move On ads, NBC may have decided to not air ads from organizations on either side of the liberal/conservative debate.
and Spartan, they gave allot of free air time to Gore's it's getting hot down here message... and yet can't find a space for a paid thank you to the Military...
I do not care for the petition becouse I do not feel they will Listen... I do not watch them, you can't pay me to watch the channel...
and I only watch CNN when Glenn is on...
But... May the Lord God Bless our troops and even people like Mr Hunter be thankful for the troops that help keep him free enough to mock those of us who are religious...
Fox, which you denigrate on a regular basis, has a much, much higher number of viewers than MSNBC so sold out doesn't mean much when you are willing to settle for the dregs.
The point here, however, is that there is NOTHING political about thanking our troops. This just makes them look stupid.
NBC said it declined the ad, not because of its message, but because it invites viewers to go to Freedom's Watch's Web site, which advocates support for the war. NBC has a policy against airing controversial issue ads.
Hope that clears up the message for you. That's a direct quote from a non-freedom watch news article. It took me 10 seconds to find.
Being informed about the entire matter is not ignorance, it's knowledge. Starting a boycott- or supporting one, without knowing the full story is ignorance. I fully respect if you want to support the boycott- that's your call. But get all the info on it before going off half-cocked about what it's for.
And there is no acceptable reason for refusing the ad. So, frankly, your information, while confirmatory of the disgusting policies of NBC, doesn't mean squat.
We do much better on the radio since conservatives actually listen to talk shows unlike the liberals who let their big chance to break into talk radio go bankrupt.
However, since boycotting is a very personal thing, you will note that I used a question mark in the title and did not make any effort to tell anyone to participate. Information is the key to the world.
But, there are some people who respect my opinion and will join a boycott that i am reporting. Clearly you aren't in that group and that is your loss not mine.
Oh well, it pushes my points up when you do it so keep on keeping on.
Especially with the assumptions you make about me and my habits. I understand why you have to attack my comments and me. It is rather pitiful though.
But seriously, boycotting won't do much. We might have better luck by contacting NBC's advertisers and telling them we won't be seeing their ads on NBC (nor buying their products) because of NBC's recent action. If the advertisers hear from enough consumers then THEY'll get NBC to mend their ways.
On the other hand....."freedom of the press" comes to mind. They're free to show the news as they see fit. We, then, are free to choose not to watch.....so the sword cuts both ways.
And btw: global warming is a scam....a HUGE scam that is going to cost a LOT of people a LOT of money and make a very FEW people VERY wealthy.....just watch it all play out and you'll see.
