I love to sing, and I love to sing in a Barbershop Quartet. There is something about four part harmony that once you try it, you just have to do it again and again. There is also something dynamic and interactive about taking that wonderful feeling and directing it to others, allowing others to enter into that sound of harmony even if they are only listening to the four parts and all those wonderful overtones. While it's also great to sing to others it is even special when there is one person who is the center of the attention. We do this again and again every Valentine's Day when quartets do singing Valentines. But when we sing to birthday girls it is even better. In this example we sang to a most wonderful birthday girl; my mother. With relatives and friends around at the Three Village Inn in the village of Stony Brook we sang a number of songs to my wonderful mother.
