Today, December 7th is the sixty-sixth anniversary of Pearl Harbor. Just like 9/11, Pearl Harbor is all that needs to be said when referring to the tragic bombing of the ships at the harbor. It nearly destroyed the Pacific protection. There are some great differences between then and now. For one thing, the American public was anxious to resolve the matter. Men signed up for the military in droves. In fact, women had to be employed in artillery factories to keep up the demand for materials and war products.
So, what is different about 9/11? For one thing, 9/11 happened during a relatively peaceful time. It was a shock just like 12/7/1941. Times have changed. The Viet Nam war is behind us, but taught us many lessons about eagerness to go to war. What makes Iraq so difficult is that it was a pre-emptive war based on a terrorist attack that had nothing to do with Iraq. In general, people are confused. It is natural to want to get behind the president and rally to the cause. But, this isn't Pearl Harbor. There isn't a country who attacked us. There is a rogue organization, mostly made up of Saudi Arabian men, who attacked our very core. It is telling that New York City, the center of our finances, was attacked. Osama bin Laden has threatened to affect us financially in one of his latest fatwas. Just like Japan, Al Qaeda is our enemy now, not Iraq. So, my question is this. Why hasn't Osama bin Laden been apprehended for his crimes against our country? It would do more good for Al Qaeda to see their leader go to trial for his transgressions and attacks on our country. Instead, we persist with Iraq and even talk about invading Iran. What good are these pre-emptive wars when the terrorists go free? I'm just asking.

And Osama hasn't been apprehended because he's not being sought.

I can not understand, why, we didnt stay after the criminal mind behind 9/11, after he was captured and hopefully executed, then go after Saddam.
Of course, if Clinton would of taken Osama into custody when he had the chance, I truly believe that there would of been no 9/11. I can play the blame game but it doesnt get us anywhere. If Bush really wanted to raise his ratings with the American public and possibly foreign interests, he would concentrate on the capture of Osama, and expose Osama for the lunatic and demon that he truly is.
The ranks or our military probably would have swelled if the war our government had decided to wage had been in Afghanistan and not in an unrelated middle east country.
But the current administration preferred to redirect the nation's fervor to other courses, making it clear that they care nothing about bringing the 9/11 perpetrators to justice. They care only for excuses that allow compromising our civil liberties and waging wars for profits.
Waging war in Iraq or Iran does not serve the national good, it only serves personal agendas.
Hail the Caesars.
And, for raising the issue of Osama. We should have and could have focused more attention on apprehending him. And, we still could, Vickey.
Thanks you everyone for your comments.
Personally, I don't believe bin Laden is alive. I do believe he is/was a master strategist and quite possibly has left these tapes to be played every so often OR has a double that is doing them. Sadly, al Quaeda is still the fanatic fringe group of crazies that must be watched and monitored and where possible, apprehended and tried.
I never understood the Bush reasoning for invading Iraq - I know I know, WOMD, which has been proven false intel. If we commit to wage against Iran, we better be damn careful and judicious in our reasoning and stance.
Ten unsolicited points from the world's worst connection. Merry whatever you celebrate!
As far as 9/11 goes. The "ALLEDGED" attackers were from Saudi Arabia and had zero to do with Iraq. Right after 9/11, Bush and Condi both stated, word for word, 'we never envisioned them using planes to attack our buildings"..!!! Give me a break! The airforce had trainer for that, and was training for that on 9/11!!! So two of our highest leaders lied openly right after 9/11 to every citizen of this country! The videos of their statements as well as the proof of the training is well documented and available via the internet with little effort.
The actual body of evidence that exists to prove that our government at the very least knew 9/11 was going to happen, and let it happen is absolutely overwhelming! It starts with Bush lying about how he watched a video of the first plane crashing into the first tower while he was in Florida! That video was not released until the next day! Then it goes on to him and Condi lying about how they never envisioned such an attack could take place! Then the complete lack of airforce intercept of the planes which is standard operatiing procedure! The list is endless! The real conspiracy is the cover up of what really happened on 9/11. Check out this site which has lots of good information on the "ALLEDGED" hijackers, and how they were allowed to roam freely in our country even though they were known to be here!

I simply can't believe that every single American is not fed up with our lying government! It took relentless efforts by 9/11 families to force the 9/11 commision investigation which was eventually convened with all Bush cronies, and over 400 days after 9/11. All steel was already destroyed at that point, and there was no way to perform and forensic investigation at that point! I thought it was a crime scene, but aparently our government and Guliani thought it was a scene that needed to be cleaered of all evidence prior to any investigation! The 9/11 commision report is a joke at best! Not even a mention of how building #7 fell at freefall speed with little fire, and no plane collision. It did suffer some damage from one of the towers but it was limited to one face of the building.
Easy: because al-Qaeda is a Republican creation =
