OF Course! This article is about favorite things! But not just the warm and fuzzy ones!
This year is a tough year for me, deciding whether to buy people gift cards, small impetuous gifts of the season, or just plainly what they need.
Remember, possibly, when recieving a years supply of socks, and underwear and hankies was what you looked forward to( or am I dating myself?)
When people asked me this year(thank goodness they DO still ask) what I wanted, I really had to think. Really I did. For the most part due to the fact that I am in the process of trying to give up the I WANTS.
I also find myself rolling my eyes at some of the requests from my boys(actually, the words "yeah right" just sort of slipped out of my mouth) with all the high dollar gidgets and gizmos(opps, I am dating myself again with those words) that they find so necessary in their daily life.
Which brings me to my thoughts tonight on favorite things.
I have not been a very loyal consumer over the years. Very few items have become a part of my daily life, that I need and want and have to have. Yes, I am the thrifty shopper, I buy on sale.
I tried bulk shopping, but it doesn' t suit me to have so much stored and I find it causes more of an over use effect, than thriftyness( yes I have someone in my household that feels safer using ALOT more TP...if excessive amounts are available, same for shampoo.)
But, I have noticed that a few items over the last few years, a few things have become staples to me. Brand specific.
Here is my list of "things". Items that if I got them for christmas, I not only would be happy to recieve as gifts, but also ones that would be useful to my daily life.
The full line of Target's Method cleaning products/household products. They not only are ecofriendly, they are good and smell really nice. Short of bleach, you can just about replace any household product with these. I buy them on sale or not.
Harry and David's Pepper and Onion Relish. This is always in my cupboards, or I am on my way to the store to get this.
Stone Ridge Valley Honey. Made locally in MTN. Grove Missouri by friends of mine( well now) Collette and BOB who organically raise their bees( free range even...LOL)
Coffee Mate Creme Brulee coffee creamer, now mind you, I use half and half, BUT if I want a flavored coffee creamer, this is what I buy.
Organic cotton socks.
Yuban organic fair trade columbian coffee..I LIKE other coffees, but I buy this one faithfully, open my cupboards and you will find Yuban.
Skin So Soft by Avon, just the plain ole regular one, its a miracle worker as a bug repellant (I dont use it in the tub) but nothing has replaced its effectiveness.
And Centrum Preformance multi vitamin.
So, which are your favorite, have to have items that if you got 5 of them for christmas this year you would be just as excited as if you got anything else?
List away( just keep it family friendly) and be Brand specific.

The list of things I want are not practical. I want a new computer. I want a water filter from the main water line in our house. That is my Christmas present. I'm very allergic to chlorine and the tap water here has way too much. I want a Martin D-35 guitar. That isn't going to happen. I want some boxer shorts and T-shirts. That's likely. Besides that there isn't much I want.
