The leaves have fallen from the trees, the temperatures have dropped, even the quality of daylight has changed. Winter is arriving, affecting the places I love best - Ballard Park and Gooseneck Cove. I've showed it to you in the lush green of summer and the brilliant colors of autumn. Now here is its austere winter beauty - bare trees, ice, and touches of color here and there.
Ballard Park
Bare trees and ice on the rocks:

My sacred Oak undressed for the season:

And the Maples over the quarry pond, brilliant yellow no longer:

Gooseneck Cove
There's ice on the Cove, with some areas of open water where the tide flows strongest. And the Winterberry adds its brilliant red to the prevailing black and white and gray.

Now we wait for snow to show the ultimate transformation in this area. Cross fingers!
