That wasn't there a minute ago...

Here's my small "miracle" for today...

As for many of us, money is tight this time of year so doing shopping of any kind is difficult and brings anything but joy.  Today was different.

While trying to pinch pennies at the grocery store, I was thinking up a soup or two I could make.  I settled on one with pasta in it, but didn't like the price of the dry pasta I had in my hand, so I returned it to the shelf and left the aisle in search of a better deal in the frozen section.

After wandering aimlessly through a picked over frozen section, I decided to go back to the pasta aisle because making the soup would still be a better value than buying cans.

Come back to find the pasta I had in my hand now had a $1 off coupon on every package.  I was like "hey, that wasn't there a minute ago!"  I know I would have noticed, as I never miss things like that.

I was grateful and happily put the pasta in my cart.  Now what was overpriced tortellini for me, suddenly became a bargain.

By the way, the soup is delicous!  Just had to share that with all of you!  So don't give up this Christmas, even if you want to.

please tell me you stocked up and took the rest of the coupons off of the boxes. theyll come in handy next time you have to buy pasta.

Excellent deal! I spent a month pouring over my gift-in-a-jar cookbooks trying to find one that used pasta as my husband had brought home an entire case of pasta that was rejected because a corner of the case was crushed. It didn't even open any of the boxes ( and these are 1 lb boxes of elbow macaroni!). Needless to say, I shared macaroni with my daughter and my best friend and still made a dozen jars of Goulash mix. I still have a huge Tupperware canister full of macaroni, so I will be using it instead of spaghetti or any other noodles for a while!

Aren't these things little miracles in themselves, I went out today and had my hair cut, because I had to, and I stopped at a place I rarely shop in because the prices are high there, and sometime in the past month or two I must have spent enough to get a coupon for the next 75.00 order I spent, and I had that in my purse, well they had a couple of sales I couldn't believe, but I onlly spent $23.00, but in front of me was another lady, somewhere in my age range, and she was spending about a $100.00 and was counting out singles, and I asked her if she wanted that 7.50 coupon, and you would think I had given her a million dollars, She waited and thanked me outside the door, I was going to throw it away, see another little miracle happened, it made me and her both feel good, and Shoprite, never knew the difference.

Oh and something good happened to me too, I was shopping Tuesday for things I needed and the box was marked $3.49 and I bought it just because of the price, and I don't know why I looked, because I rarely do, and I saw it ring up as 5.99, well, they called someone over and showed them what the computer had rung up, and they credited me with the 5.99, plus gave me the item free, and another 1.00 credit, how good is that, (I wonder how many people paid 5.99, I hope they fixed the computer)

We eat a lot of soup in winter. I cook on our coal heat stove in winter so it does not cost us anything to cook. We eat a lot of soups and beans. LOL
