Every Christmas, I get requests for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer Cupcakes. These cupcakes are a hit with adults and children alike. They are easy to make and fun to eat while bringing cheer to your holiday party. Unfortunately I do not have a step by step in pictures because I haven't made them for this Christmas yet. The picture attached is from last year.

You will need:
Chocolate cake mix (plus oil, water, eggs to make the cake)
Chocolate Frosting
Chocolate Sprinkles
Pretzel Sticks (straight ones only)
Walnut halves
White Chocolate covered raisins
Red M&M's OR Red Sour Balls
First bake your cupcakes. Fill them a little higher then the recommended amount on the cake box. This will ensure that you'll have a nice round top to make your reindeer face. After they cool, you can either dive right in and decorate them OR you can freeze them for a little while. That might sound a little odd, but the cupcakes will stay a little firmer and the frosting won't stick as much to the top if they're at least semi frozen. This is something I have just started doing recently and I plan to continue doing it in the future, it just really gives you an easier base to work with.
Frost your cupcakes with your chocolate frosting. Sprinkle your chocolate sprinkles over your cupcake, make sure you get every visible surface as the chocolate sprinkles are acting as your reindeers fur.
Take two walnut halves and stick them down into each side of the cupcake, for ears. Now take two pretzel sticks and stick them in just a little before your walnut halves. The pretzel sticks make the perfect antlers for your Rudolph the red nosed reindeer cupcake.
Now you're ready to place your white chocolate covered raisins on your cupcake for the eyes. You can use any white candy that you want to for the eyes. I've even heard of mints being used but the kids I know do not like mints so I opted to use something more friendly and decided that white chocolate covered raisins were the best bet. Lastly...and the most fun part in my opinion....give Rudolph his red nose so he can light up the night. You can use a red M&M for a nice chocolaty taste or you could use a red sour ball. While the red sour balls are indeed sour, they are nice and round and look fabulous as Rudolph's nose.
Rudolph cupcakes are perfect to make for your family meal, Christmas party or even a church bazaar. You could even have your children help you make Rudolph's face. I've found that my own children love helping out in the kitchen, especially around the holidays.
