This is a repost from January 2007. Not many read it, and it is an interesting story that I would like to share with my new connections.
This is a true story...
My oldest brother Jim attended the University of Utah. He is quite a bit older than me, so I was only 11, when he graduated from college. He lived in an old apartment building that had beautiful hardwood trim, hardwood floors and high ceilings. I was so impressed with the building as a young child. I remember that there were only two flats per floor, and his neighbor was just a few steps away from his front door. His neighbor was away, when we visited. I remember peering into his flat through the glass pane on the door. I could see a well organized desk, but that is as far as I could see.
We enjoyed my brother's graduation and visiting the city. We are not Mormon, but we visited the Mormon temple grounds. I remember that the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang at his graduation ceremony. It left quite an impression on me. We left soon after the graduation, but my brother stayed. I am not sure how much longer he lived there. His live in girlfriend was still attending school.
Jim had spoken frequently of his neighbor and his friend Ted. They worked on his car together. They hung out and drank beer. Ted would come over for dinner and they would shoot the shit for hours into the night. His neighbor travelled a lot. My brother would water his plants, and take care of his place, while he was gone.
One day my brother was home alone in the afternoon, when there was a knock on the door. An FBI agent wanted to ask him a few questions. Jim invited him in. He was nervous. I am pretty positive that he probably had some pot around somewhere. The agent was asking questions about his friend and neighbor. He wanted to know about his comings and goings. How well did Jim know him? Finally Jim just asked him why he wanted to know. The agent said, "If convicted, your neighbor is the biggest mass murder in the US."
My brother was friends with Bundy. He was devasted. Many reporters wanted to interview him, and he declined. He wanted to believe that Bundy was still his friend and incapable of killing women. To think that he was watering his plants, while he was out on a killing spree!
I know that Bundy was murdering sociopath, and you do not run into a lot of these in every day life..
or do you???

My friends do not know everything about me and I am sure I do not know everything about them.
People only let you know as much about them as they want you to know.
I for one am worried about you. I was married to a man similar to your boyfriend. After marriage the real monster came out and I had quite a time protecting the kids. He had his own agenda and I wasn't allowed to go anywhere without him and what really freaked me out was that he painted the windows and the lightbulbs black. He had me so intimidated by the time he left me that I had real problems functioning on my own. With four little kids, the youngest 4wks old, I needed help. What I did I'm ashamed to say, but it's in the past.
If you really think this won't esculate, then relax and enjoy if that's your choice of lifestyles. But if I were you, I'd keep a close watch. Just a word from someone who's been there and done that.

I have my own FBI story but I think I will save it for another time.
Glad Bundy was his neighbor, instead of say John Wayne Gacy who LIKED males.
As to your question of do we or don't we, run into murdering sociopaths every day.....the answer is a resounding........
YES WE DO.
Every state currently has at least 5 serial killers loose........with an average of every city having OVER 50 sexual hard core-[meaning committed their crime with damaging violence to the victims] pedofilers running loose, and around school children, maybe even yours.
The states with the largest amount of serial killers currently hushed and yet still loose and OPERATING CURRENTLY AS WE SPEAK is a toss up between Chicago, Illinois or Miami, Florida.
But don't let that fool you!
EVERY STATE has a MINIMUM of TWO serial killers operating, and the reason they can't be caught is because as we and techiques evolve - so do they, and they get smarter just as law enforcement does. Some even have been known to take LE classes to find out exactly WHAT LE looks for when searching for a killer.....scary huh.
And this generation of "don't get involved unless it effects me directly" mindset, helps the killers escape detection and helps keep the cops from catching them.
Just go to your states crime website and click on murders and unsolved murders....and keep in mind that........for every body found that is unidentified, there is a killer running loose.......somewhere in your state, city, county, town.......think about it.
You're so right - one just never knows.
My brother never shared whether he heard from him, and sadly my brother died in a car accident about five years later.
Ten unsolicited points from the world's worst connection. Merry whatever you celebrate!
I am so sorry about your brothers accidental death, Sue.
I hope that you'll do the same for me - and then we can all be happy!
A 10 for you! Happy Holidays to you, too!
