liberty and justice
this white notepad looks like a maddening chalkboard scratch
it keeps me up all night and binds me into knots
this smoldering cigarette gives no solution to my wordlessness;
hiding in closets, the mice watch me, squealing like pigs
my conscience is in crisis, i am afraid to say, out loud, are you?
this heart pounding gives no empathy, breathes no air;
politicians hide immigrants in broad daylight, as slaves
in their yards
and our own people will vote for those men-what a pity!
this white notepad begs me to open my rotten mouth
forcing me to verbally spit upon what is notjustice, but skin
bodies and muscles moving, laboring, and yet the birthday
of
the christmas season is upon us...
in one nation, under God, indivisible, with
LIBERTY and
JUSTICE
for all!
