Wow - our supporters continue to amaze me with their powerful, persuasive letters to the editor! This one comes from the Sioux City Journal and ran this weekend.
DENISON, Iowa -- As a veteran of the Korean War, I looked through the field of Democrats for the candidate who can best resolve our situation in Iraq. Only one candidate has the experience both militarily and diplomatically.
Chris Dodd is the only Democratic candidate ever to serve the United States in uniform. While candidates talk about their foreign policy experience, I believe we need a president who has gotten their hands dirty by serving our country. Chris Dodd served not only in the National Guard, but also in the Army Reserve.
His life of public service didn't begin here. Prior to his military service Chris Dodd was an active Peace Corps volunteer. He lived for two years in the Dominican Republic building children's hospitals. Only Dodd possesses this insight, which is crucial for our next president to obtain. Dodd went to the ground floor and helped build a nation to ensure it would be a safe environment for future generations.
Chris Dodd's foreign policy experience is immeasurable. He brokered the Good Friday peace accords in Northern Ireland, he is the chairman of the U.S. delegation to the Mexican government and is a senior member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Ask yourself, "Should we settle for anything less in our next president?" Chris Dodd is a candidate who is well-versed in the military, building countries and foreign diplomacy. He has the proven experience our country needs in the president. These are just some reasons I support Chris Dodd for president.
