What was your favorite Christmas Gift as a child?

I liked my popple but I am not sure what my favorite was. I dunno if I got my popple for Christmas!

Cabbage Patch Dolls, my grandfather bought them for us when they first came out.

Toy wise, I had 2 Christmas's that stick out in my mind- one year I got a TON of Rainbow Bright toys- dolls, the car, the horse, new sheets for my bed, all sorts of Rainbow Bright stuff. Another year, I got 3 cabbage patch dolls. I think it was the first or second year I had gotten CPK's, and LOVED them.

Aside from that, between my dad's house, my mom's house, and my Grandma's place, I was assured of getting at least 1 CPK and 1 Barbie for at least 6 years in a row.

Now, as to my favorite present... well, this has been asked a lot lately, and I always thought about my toys, and tried to pick a favorite. But, the other night, it came to me that my favorite gift wasn't a toy. When I was 5, my dad got remarried. He and my step-mom had been together for 2 or 3 years at that point. I don't remember a time where she wasn't in our lives, so I was pretty young when she came into the picture.

Anyway, that year for Christmas she had made me and my brother each a quilt. I loved that quilt- I called it my "Silky", because it had a satin binding edge. I would run it through my fingers. I literally wore that blanket down to a few threads holding the rags together. I was probably 12 or 13 when it was just completly unrepairable. Our house was always cold- the furnace was outdated, and it didn't work with registers. It sat in the dining room and kicked air out from there, so our bedrooms were ice cold if the doors were shut. So, I always had my Silky wrapped around me when it was cold out.

As an aside, I have a total thing for "silky" edged blankets still. I sleep with a small crib sized quilt I made for my youngest 3-4 years ago when she was real little still, and have gotten so bad about needing to rub it against my fingers that I can't sleep without it now. I wind the silky edge between all my fingers and sleep that way.

I had a Wizard of Oz play set with the dolls and the wizard.

I would say Barbies and Liddle Kiddles :)

Puffalumps are what the little animals with the stuff in their nose is called.

I don't think Puffalumps had stuff in their noses. I had 4 or 5 of them, but none with stuff in their noses. I had lots of Care Bears, Fluffy Puppys (or floppy puppies??), Pound Puppies, Popples, and so much more. Looking back, I got REALLY spoiled as a child. I was the only girl in the family until I was almost 10, though, so that helped. ;)

I dont think they were puffalumps.. I loved pound puppies..

Jenn, those are the puffalumps, the soft squishy animals. Nothing in the noses that I recall, either.

I don't recall any stuffed toys like that, though.

Razzles were candy AND gum- they started out like candy, but when you got to chewing them, they turned into gum! LOOOVED em! The dollar store near me sells them, but I haven't had em in years.

My favorite gift is something I don't even have anymore. My favorite uncle had given me this stuff dog that I wore out so much it had no neck. It was a large dog and I slept with it. I never did know what happened to it.

Roxanna- that is so sweet! Reminds me of the teddy bears my twins have that my mom got them when they were still in my tummy. they love them so much..but any other stuffed animals my kids wont touch!

You remember the pillows that had arms, legs, and hair. I think they are kind ugly now, looking back at it today. But I had one of those and I took it every where I went.

I liked my Holly Hobby oven becuase I could make desserts all by myself! I also liked my sit and spin and would make myself so dizzy on it i would make myself sick!!!

I got a Petite Children's typewriter when I was 10 back in 1963. I had put it on my father Christmas list and sent it up the chimney, laughing, I never expected to get it. I had been writing from when I could hold a pencil. I had such a great time typing out all the short stories and poetry I had written, lets face it what better present could you get as a kid who couldn't stop writing?

You know....I really can't think of any that stand out.

I think my favourite was my cabbage patch doll... but then she slipped under my waterbed lining, caught on fire, and almost electrocuted me in my sleep... so not sure I like her anymore.

My very Special Christmas was last year,I was out of the hospital for the day and my family was all around me .I really felt the love of my family and my friends as we were all surprised i had had beaten the odds .and was alive and had so much to be thankful for. but when every one had left the greats gift of all was listening to my grandson playing Christmas Songs on his Piano he look at me and said grandma your crying I said i know ,He say why, I said just to hear you playing the Christmas songs makes me so very happy amen.

I forgot all about Popples! Mine was Peaches and Cream Barbie.
