Ambitious, Cold, Calculating - all words used to describe Hillary, and to my mind well applied. There is a real professional campaign going on to project a warmer face, a less driven persona, more likeable, more in tune with what the voters want. The proof is in the doing though, and what Hillary has done in the past, in comparison to her competition, reveals those words to be amply true. CLICK HERE

So all I can say is, I hope you won't mind living in Rockefeller's Dream Society which is cashless, and you don't mind being re-located to "human habitats" and relinquishing your private property for environmental reasons, and you don't mind giving mandatory prozac to your 2 year old, and you don't mind adopting the UN Charter in place of the Constitution.
I have given links until I am blue in the face over their intense Rockefeller, Bilderberger annointed mission for the next 8 years so I won't waste my digital energy. It's out there if anyone cares.
Cold, calculating, ambitious. Cold isn't good usually. Calculating and ambitious are usually means to success. Of all the things said about Hillary, if you took out all the name calling and statements of opinion it would sure deflate a lot of arguements.
In the article you linked to Ron, it stated that Edwards and Obama campaigned throughout the country for others while not raising much for themselves. There wasn't much supporting evidence to this claim. Assuming it is true, was it necessarily wise? Are you suggesting they are exceeding altruistic?
Btw, I plan to caucus for Obama, not Hillary. I do like Edwards (I caucused for him in 2004 after Kucinich wasn't viable in my precinct). While Hillary would be one of my last choices of the democrats, I think she has been on the right side of a lot of battles.
Half a million out of 52 million, is not what I would call "A significant amount" Cold and calculating. Have you ever heard the story about her meeting with the mothers of dead Iraq veterans? I think Sheehan was, at the beginning of her journey, one of those in the group. Seek it out, it says all you need to know about cold and calculating. I will try to find the figures for you on Edwards, but as a previous donor to his cause, I was constantly the recipient of letters telling me what he was raising money for, and who, and I can state that his focus was not on himself, at the time. Of course, he wasn't running for anything at the time. Neither was Clinton, though, in all reality, her election was always considered a given. I would vote for Clinton if I had to, over the Republican choices that I see, but here's the thing. She's the very last candidate I would like to see get the nod as standard bearer for the Democratic Party, as her standards are much lower than the other candidates, in my NSHO, and I still doubt her electability. I see a situation where her candidacy would electrify the right, and turn out would be historically high on their side as a result. I talk to people in the midwest, every day, and there is a true disdain for Hillary, even among people that I would otherwise consider fairly progressive minded. She's imprinted on their brains in a negative way, and nothing seems to be able to sway that. Before this election cycle, I was pro Hillary, till I looked at the polls, saw her record becoming more and more corporate, more and more warhawk, and her refusal to swear off the lobbyist teat. Then it dawned on me what that groundswell from the right might do to our newly elected democratic majority, as those that stood in the rain for eight hours to vote against Hillary also voted against all our progressive candidates. Eight more years of Republican rule, and republican control of one or more houses, is a nightmare I can do without, thank you very much. Enough said?
Perhaps in this day and age, we need to abandon most calls for civil discussion. I just can't help trying to respond to some of the slams against Hillary. I can't help but wonder how much of this is due because Sen. Clinton has had to act touch just because she is a woman.
Thanks for your efforts at keeping us all involved!
I understand the concern, but my opposition is for very good reasons, and her being a woman has not a thing to do with it, if that's what you mean. I have no qualms about voting for a woman, if it were the right woman. As I said, too, if she is heads up with some of the present republican candidates, I will.
