3:00 PM on Wedenesday, November 28, 2007. Ronda's ex-boyfriend Justin Hiser confronted her at work and stabbed her once in the upper chest. Ronda was pronounced dead at 3:45 PM that same afternoon.
He fled the scene and led police on a slow chase through a few towns. He was apprehended without incident when he got caught in traffic.
Hiser had custody of the couples two daughters ages 10 and 12 years old. Ronda also has a 5 year old daughter with her husband. Ronda and Hiser had broken up 10 years ago, and would argue sometimes over the girls.
Family members say their arguments got verbal, but never physical. Yet, in 1997 Hiser had hit Ronda in the head and she refused to press charges against him. She didn't have an order of protection either. She said she didn't need it.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2007 Hiser's Mother went to the Worcester Police Department and said she was afraid her son was suicidal. He wasn't suicidal, he was homicidal. Nothing has been printed about the details of that incident. I don't know if the police did check on him or not. Obviously what ever transpired with Hiser and the police was the wrong decision. He was free to kill Ronda.
Ronda had a rough life as a child, and she was placed into foster care around the age of 12. She had her first baby at about 16 years old. Her Foster Mother said she was "the quiet one". The Department Of Social Services were familiar with this family. Ronda had dealt with them in July when they recieved a complaint regarding the 5 year old girl.
Ronda died in a pool of her own blood, in a parking lot. I can't tell you if an order of protection would have saved her that day. I do know that Domestic Violence offenders, male or female should be brutally punished for commiting any acts of violence on a spouse or partner. Her babies are Motherless, and two will be fatherless. Ronda, rest in peace.

A travesty

His mother, who works at a local bank, is devastated. This child was raised with everything. How could he go so wrong? But at least he will not be out on the streets again for a very long time.
What a legacy to leave your own son.
I am wondering what the authorities could have really done though. She refused to press charges for the past incident and didn't get a TRO. (and those are worthless anyway, most of the time)
Domestic Abuse Resources
But on the keepin' it real tip, had she been carrying a gun, she could have blasted him to Miami and worried about Heaven later!
My feeling is that victims of domestic violence should not be able to decide whether or not to press charges. Sure, sometimes a convinction couldn't be won without the victim's testimony. But many cases could be won using hospital records and photos taken following the abuse. Domestic violence only gets worse; it never gets better. I hope any women out there in an abuse relationship will look at this article and their own life and find the courage to make a change before it's too late.
Thanks for posting this article. Sad, but something our society needs to face.
It will be a good thing when women are considered to be people with all the rights thereof.
