Sandy's comment helped me figure out why this poem seemed so familiar to me. Even the second and third reading were beautiful. The ancient koan was well placed. Beautifully rendered.

John, I thought people sent anything they publish to the groups they belong to. That might be a wrong assumption, huh? But...I composed the Haiku and I'm an American so....sorry, loose association.

Pamela, I don't mean to be churlish, I enjoy this haiku and its true meditative mood. Just the all-groups publishing makes it hard to manage one's interests. I think the classical music groups have really given up, though the BSO is trying now.
