I watercolor and I am a scissor cutting silhouette artist.  Most people do not know what that is.  I take a pair of scissors, and I cut out an object of an animal, person, or whatever, FREEHAND .  I DO NOT trace or use a pattern.  I cut out of a special black paper, and it is pasted onto a white poster card.  A lot of my art has been in many galleries.  When I post a cutting on gather, it is in black. Lots of people think it is a print or a photo. IT ISN'T.  If you go to my video, you will see how it is done. It is interesting.  I think you may enjoy it.  There are only around 100 people left in the world that cut portraits this way.  It is a lost art.  However, I do not know anyone that uses a scissors to cut what I do or with as much detail, either.  Check it out on my website:

I hope you learned something about silhouettes.  Also known as scherenschnitte.  But, that is a little different. As the artist folds the paper and usually uses a pattern.  And  knife cutting is different, as it is layered paper, and sketched out, then cut.  Not a lost art.
