It's your call, but it has to be one of the two. Karl Rove, former Bush master of political double talk and double cross, recently departed from a White House that was getting too hot for him to inhabit. Then yesterday came the big announcement: it was Congress, according to Rove, that wanted to rush a vote on the looming Iraq invasion in the fall of 2002- not Bush!
Rove states that the administration did not wish for lawmakers to vote on a resolution authorizing the use of force against Iraq that soon, because it would "make things move too fast"- before the poor President could get his ducks in a row by enlisting international support for his effort.
Democrats, and some Republicans, who were involved in the event commented that their memory banks differ. Bush, they state, wanted a quick vote.
Tom Daschle: "Either Rove has a very faulty memory, or he's not telling the truth".
Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for the Bush administration: "It was definitely the Bush administration that set it in motion and determined the timing, not the Congress. I think Karl in this instance just has his facts wrong."
Andrew Card, former White House Chief of Staff: "sometimes his mouth gets ahead of his brain."
Okay, on a more serious note, no, there is nothing wrong with Rove's memory. He is just lying, which he does habitually. He seems to think that the more you lie, the more people believe you. Rove has attempted to position himself as a "wise old pundit" since leaving his job as partisan hatchet man, but then whoops, he keeps opening his mouth.
My disgust for this man knows no bounds. Just as he did in the case of the so called Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, he has tried to turn truth on its head. Yeah, Kerry was the lily livered coward who only spent a few months in Vietnam with bullets zinging around him- GWB is the hero, because he sat around slurping tequila! In the same way, we can't have the American people believing the truth, that GWB, Cheney, and Rumsfeld rushed us into Iraq by fabricating evidence- no, it must have been the fault of Congress, who rushed us into an impossible situation while the poor President struggled vainly to assemble our allies!!
This is too absurd to dignify with a response. I am ashamed of myself for even having typed into a computer the thing that came out of Rove's mouth. Unconscionable- that is the only word for it.

Take care.
quote Joseph Goebbels:
"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State."
