Saturday Silver & Gold - What Are You Mining?

We are doing some mining today also. Daddy's at work, so me and the kids wrapped a few of his Christmas gifts to put under the tree. One of them my 4 year old daughter picked out and bought all by herself for him.
While baby brother slept, Maddie and me made little stocking out of red/green construction paper with all the employees names on them for my work. I am the office assistant and my boss said I could do things at home sometimes to get a few extra hours closer to Christmas. I only work 3 days a week, so that I am able to stay home with my kids.
Also I am drinking a piping hot cup of coffee with a new pepperment creamer I bought. It is absolutely delicious!
The baby is sleeping, my daughter is watching Strawberry Shortcake and the house is very quiet (for the moment) and I am on GATHER. Life couldn't get any better than this, could it??

I have the unfortunate job of cleaning out all my late mothers things in her home. so am trying to get the living room finished so I can put the Christmas tree up, But I can't get past the end tables full of old photo albums. So I am not getting much done. I look and scan and post and look more . But having fun doing it.

Since this is the first day of really rotten weather this year, it's not getting on my nerves as much as the days in January will. I'm making homemade chicken stoup. I borrowed that word from Rachel Ray. It's chicken, noodles, cut up potatoes, celery, a tiny bit of onion, and the broth thickened just a bit. In a little while I'm going to sack out on the couch with a book I'm reading that is very good - The Midnight Choir, a police procedural set in Ireland. And I think my husband is planning a nap for us ;)

I like the idea of chicken stoup - I'm always renaming things as well...I think I've heard of that book...oh you need to read Joyce Carol Oats, The Falls - so good - I read it this summer also Louise Erdrich's The Master Butchers quartet...I think that's it...I love to read - ok have fun - I'm sure I'll be napping sometimes but the day is a long one! I dont feel very well today so I am just being lazy.

I have actually "lost" the day. We were supposed to be meeting friends for shopping and dinner about 75 miles north of here, and I spent the morning watching the weather reports and we had to cancel around noon because of all the ice north of us. I had 3 phone calls from my friends about our plans, and then my girlfriend who is in crisis called twice and just needed someone to listen. I finally jumped into the shower at about 1:00 and my sister showed up and stayed until after 3. I didn't get dressed until then, and now I'm trying to catch up here. I did mop the kitchen floor....and that is my only accomplishment so far today. I think I need to start this one over:)

I'm stuck babysitting. Nice picture though. Oh yeah, you caught me, I'm Gathering too!!

Mariana, my normal mining activity is silver at Cerro Gordo, of course. But today I'm stuck in histories about Bodie & a more obscure town called Jordan just west of Mono Lake, and north of Lee Vining. No - I'm not mining Bodie gold...nor am I mining copper and other minerals at Jordan..... I'm mining electricity and snow and avalanches in the winter of 1910-1911. With any luck, my husband will have the story on line for my Dec. website by tomorrow....and I can move on to other activities.

A beautiful morning with my daughter and granddaughter, but our area lost power for hours - and it was chilly! The whole rest of the day kind of fell apart, without electricity - errands didn't get done - so I gladly gave up, came home to power on again - and cruised by the computer and the television...........envy your warmth!

Ahhh, seeing the horses today was a chest full of jewels for me. They are all looking so good - ready for the winter with their new shelter, and oh so glad to see us because it was feeding time.

We are vacationing in Destin FL and we were so fortunate to see the T-6 convention. The pilots flew over us all day Friday and Saturday. Tonight they did a final performance at sunset. I love airplanes, especially small ones. It was very exciting.

Pretty picture! Sounds like you've had a wonderful day mining those glittering jewels. Today I did some quiet mining. Gathering, grocery list, dishes etc, etc. Although, I did brave the windchill temp of 2 degrees to get some photos outside. LOL Our first real snow, six to 12 inches as opposed to the inch or two we had last week.

No mining for me Mariana...but Saturday's are my shopping day and I make an adventure out of them.

I spend some time at my coffee bar (the Casablanca) and there I mine my firendships. Many of my friends come past with their friends.

As we explore each others' adventures....isn't that a kind of mining. Aren't we finding lodes of warmth and memories?

Hey my dear, sorry i'm late in posting,but you know me i'm running like a wild women as my better half calls me. I'm running on the beach like a child having a blast. I love water it's MY SIGN. The water shines and sparkles in the moon light as the waves wash on shore just Beautiful.I love that beautiful picture of the big shell, it looks alot like mother of pearl.

Let's see: on Saturday, my son and I were frantically packing up his apt and waiting for word that he had been OK'ed for a new place. At 2 PM, we went and waited at the agent's office. She came at 3 and said it was a go!! Thank heavens. We spent Sunday moving him (or as much as we could do just using my car, until he had to go to work). I had to come home on Monday. I HOPE he got everything else moved but am afraid to call and find out.
