We have all had a nasty virus with both flu and cold symptoms and had already taken Jared to the ER Monday because he had a juicy sounding cough and was not yet 3 weeks old, but his blood oxygen level was 100% and chest x-ray was clear so they sent us on our merry way. Yesterday Jared has been a lot less fussy and his color was very pale. Last night I was nursing him and he suddenly stopped nursing and made a strange noise and when I sat him up he was turning blue so my hubby picked him up and thumped him on the back, got him crying and he pinked up but we took him to the Er and lo and behold, his blood oxygen level was below 90 and his chest showed fluid so they admitted him and he is on oxygen and IV antibiotics. I have no idea how long they will keep him- I am waiting for my husband right now so we can switch who is at the hospital and who is with the baby. It is so scary when they are this small and they get sick!
Sunday, December 2nd
My husband Matt (M. Emmett Townsend here on gather) swapped placed and I took an almost 4 hour nap and am about to feed my kids baked chicken and rice and then take a shower and change my stinky clothes. Jared has been doing so much better today! His color is nice and pink instead of ghostly pale, his cough is getting better and he has been eating like a little piglet today. The Doctor checked on him about an hour ago and said there was still rattling going on in his chest so he will continue on having the Nebulizer treatments(Xopenex) and IV Antibiotics and we will see how he is doing tomorrow. The nurses have been just super sweet, now if they could do something about the disgusting hospital food( the parent staying with the child gets a tray) ........I keep skipping meals while I am there! Thanks so much for all your prayers everyone!

God Bless.
Thank you for your prayers, it has been a long scary night... but like the sun rising, he is looking better already, is on iv antibiotics every 6 hours alternating 2 types. Mom is now at the hosp... so she can feed him properly... I feed him all night but was using Infimil and it is good, but is never as good a breast milk...
Well going to write a quick article to my contacts and then rest while the older kids eat lunch and read books and watch Spider man.
Again, thank you for sharing your faith and care.
I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope he is on the mend.
I'm thinking and sending healing thoughts for little Jared.
I got your email. How is the little guy doing?
I loved the poem that your husband wrote to you. :)
God be with you.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your little one. Praying that he gets well soon and you can take him home. Leslie, I know that the hospital food is yucky, but please try to eat as you need all the strength you can get.
Hugs,
Marilyn and Mark

Please Eat something and take care of yourself! (I know all about the Hosp. food) But isn't there a Taco bell or Burger King near???
Everytime he gets a cold I freak out and think it's all happening again but all has been well.
Stay in prayer yourself and get rest. I know it can be hard with other children and wanting to be there with him but you must get some too so you can be helpful.
God bless your little one...
Merry Christmas...
