Don't say "um" every sentence.

I kept reminding myself not to say "um" every sentence. I thought I did pretty good, until I listened to the radio interview last Thursday. I didn't say "um" every sentence. (Good). Just every other sentence. (Bad). And I kept hearing "You know, you know, you know." Where did that come from? I never say "You know." Well, until Thursday, anyway.

Other than that the radio talk was a lot of fun. Here's the link if you want to hear my "ums" and "you knows." There's about a 10 min. monologue before you get to hear me.

I know, I know, and I wasn't aware I was saying them. I think the same thing when I hear others say them. Good response ("No, I don't know"). Next time, maybe I won't be so nervous.

I once went to a training session where one of the speakers said "Uhm" over six hundred times in less than an hour! Needless to say, it was so distracting that I didn't learn much.

P.S. While I'm typing this I'm watching the Democratic debate and both candidates have said "Uhm" a couple of times in the last couple of minutes..

Lol....I do that all the time, too. I'm a very bad public speaker because I get really nervous. Congrats for being on the radio, though. :)
