Hypocritical?

Recently, my hubby decided to not speak to his mom and push his family away for his own sanity.  Then he went and asked her for money.  Someone asked if he was being hypocritical.  Yes, we were.  But, we were broke and rent was due soon.  You do whatever you need to when you need to do it sometimes.  Even if it means speaking to someone who is a negative influence on your life.  He still is angry about his past situation…. And still chooses not to have anything to do with her. 

 

Question,

Have you ever given in to something you decided against when times were tough and you really needed something?

I have said many times that I would not ask my parents for help. But when times have been tough my husband and I have had to ask them for help with finances before. They are more than happy to help us. I think it's just a pride thing for me and my husband that we don't want to have to ask them.
I have never done it before, but you never know what the future brings.

I never did because I am stubborn and extremely resourceful. I've hustled a buck many a time and raised and fed 3 kids on my own while doing it. Get out there and bust a move. You are only beholden to people when you put yourself in that position.

I'm not saying that I never asked anyone for help, but they were people that I would have done the same thing for and I always paid back. Make a new world for yourselves and get out from under toxic people. The emotional price you pay becomes physical and can kill you.

It is a difficult situation to be in, I'm sure. Has he ever confronted his mother about the situation?

Yes, and I felt incredibly bad about it. I think all of us at one time or another have done something hypocritical, or something we regret, but mistakes and regrest make us human.

You have to survive. Don't think about hypocrisy here. He has a lot to get through, but never will if you guys are evicted.

If your relationship is good with your parents and you need help that is one thing. But to ask when you want nothing to do with them that is not right...I don't believe. You just can't disown people for whatever reason and then when hard times come go to those very people you disowned.....just my thoughts since you asked.

I hadn't seen my mother and stepfather for a long time, they didn't give a hoot about me anyway so there was no love lost. I went to the hospitals when my mother died and was holding her had. The look on her face when she saw me an jerked her hand away made it clear I wasn't wanted there. Don't get me wrong, I love my mom even if she didn't love me..

Not to that extent. But every time I speak to my family, I am giving in. They believe they are always right and cannot seem to hear things if they are not what they believe. No amount of talking things out has changed this or ever will. It makes it extremely stressful to be around them but if I wasn't, my girls would miss out on their family. I wish every day that it could be different but have no idea of how that will ever happen.
