Evel Kneivel, dies at age 69

A legandary icon from the 1970's, Evel Kneivel, has passed away in his home at age 69. He had trouble breathing while at home, and passed away before an ambulance could arrive.

Kneivel became popular for his many dare devil stunts that he performed at carnivals and shows.

How sad, he was an icon from my childhood. I remember how excited I was when I received my Knevil cycle toy on Christmas. I remember seeing his failed attempt at jumping the Snake River Canyon on TV. The first true Daredevil!

here I thought he'd go out in a blaze of glory....this is too bad.....
I always would have imagined him dying in a blaze of glory as well. It is a sad event, and my thoughts are with his family.

As a young boy growing up in the late sixties/ early seventies, he was a hero to me, and many of my friends. I actually got to see him live several times, shook his hand, and got an autograph. For all of his problems, he loved his fans. There will never be another.
