One of America's foremost legal experts on crimes of violence, Linda Fairstein served for 25 years as the bureau chief of the famed Sex Crimes Prosecution Unit of the New York City District Attorney's Office before stepping down in 2002 to continue writing her bestselling crime novels.Â In 1993, her non-fiction bookâ€”SEXUAL VIOLENCE: OUR WAR AGAINST RAPEâ€”was published to critical acclaim.Â In 1996, Fairstein realized her life-long dream upon the publication of her first crime novel, FINAL JEOPARDY.Â That debut in the Alexandra Cooper series of crime novels was followed by LIKELY TO DIE, COLD HIT, THE DEADHOUSE, THE BONE VAULT, THE KILLS, and ENTOMBED, DEATH DANCE, and BAD BLOOD (2007)â€”all international bestsellers, translated into more than a dozen languages.Â Dana Delaney starred in the Edgar-nominated ABC Premiere Movie of the Weekâ€”FINAL JEOPARDY, and THE DEADHOUSE won the 2003 Nero Awards for Literary Excellence in the crime genre.Â The tenth book in the seriesâ€”KILLER HEATâ€”will be published in March, 2008, by Doubleday.Â A graduate of Vassar College (1969) and the University of Virginia School of Law (1972), Fairstein is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the International Society of Barristers.Â In 1998, several of her law school classmates established a public service scholarship in her name, to support students interested in a legal career in the public sector.Â She lives in Manhattan and on Martha's Vineyard.Â Â Â
