The frowzy drowsy Princess
couldn't even lift an eyebrow
to wonder at the fearsome row outside her brownstone door.
It was too early even for sparrows,
And our Princess much too much highbrow
to be bothered by such trifles,
or furrow her sweet soft brow.
But now the frightful rowdy noise was coming from the house.
A frown did cross her delicate pout.
But a moment, til she wiped it out.
What's this? The racket's getting rowdier?
A fearsome growl preceded him-
some throwback she just knew as "Jim".
In his meaty fist the scarecrow wilted.
It was a moment still, until
our Princess noticed the flamethrower
and Jim's growing will to use it.
This lowborn, lowbrow, rowdy had chilled her to the marrow.
Worse, he had wrinkled her face
with this careless attempt to harrow!
No longer drowsy, Rowena showed her prowess.
Her narrow purpose honed on Jim.
On the morrow, no one would find him - anywhere,
just a new scarecrow with a sorrowful air.
