Do You Send Christmas Cards?

Whether you believe in Christ or not, I am sure that you have still heard the story of Jesus Christ’s birth. The reason for the Christmas celebration is Christ. I have been having a really hard time finding just that perfect Christmas card. I try to find cards that mean something to me. I never just purchase any card to send. I personalize each card that I send. I hand-write the name/names of the recipient at the top of the card. I underline the parts of the card verse that I think the recipient will relate too. I then sign our names on the card. I spend a lot of time preparing my cards for mailing. I always try to purchase cards with a spiritual picture on them. I love the manger scene with the baby Jesus.

I love to send Christmas cards to those whom I care about. I don’t feel like I have to send cards. I just want to let them know that we are thinking of them. With stamp prices the price they are now, many people have decided not to send cards. However, it is still cheaper to send a card via postal service than it is to drive and visit them. I have over 50 cards ready to put in the mail box . I also still have more to fix up.

We have already begun to receive cards from people. This year, I am hanging a clothes line on the wall to display my cards on. In the past, we have taped them to the front door. I just want to try something new this year.

I have a few people that I do. I really don't know that many people. I used to do a Christmas card exchange but probably won't do one this year.

I have sent out the first round of cards. I too put the name of the recipient on the inside top of the card. I write a sentiment at the bottom. For those that live a distance from me I include a letter. I hope to get the second round out this week. But, first need to type the letters that I will be including with the cards.

There was a time when I sent 50+ cards. Now I am down to about 35.

Years ago I would receive at least 50 or more cards. Now we only receive about 20. The cost of stamps keeps rising. People seem to be less inclined to send out greetings.

With the cost of postage, I have cut my list down to a couple dozen from the over 200 I used to send. Most I have lost contact with and some I only heard from this time of year through their cards. I usually have to kinds of cards I send...religious ones to those who are church-goers and celebrate the true meaning of the holiday...and humorous ones for those who aren't so religious...along with a few special ones I buy for special people, like my best friend. I have yet to receive any cards...only because I moved recently and, despite making a change of address with the post office, i don't always get mail forwarded...and I have yet to send my cards out informing anyone of my relocation...not even my mother or sister. When I do receive cards, I put them up around a doorway I see all the time so I can enjoy the thoughts and sentiments from those who sent them.

Some years I send cards and some I don't. I had thought about sending this year since I haven't for the last two. I love the funny or cute holiday cards and usually buy Shoebox Greetings from Hallmark when I am sending cards.

For my geocaching friends, I am sending them a little personal geocoin that I just got my order of today. So that's kind of like a card. I decorated 15 padded mailers with holiday stickers. I'll mail them off on Monday.

So far this year I have received 3 cards.

I do send cards.

I just post them where ever they will go. I do have a card holder though.

I don't know how many I will get. I probably won't get any until I send mine out. That is the way it usually goes anyway.

I just like sending cards out I don't have a special way to do it. Last year I did a picture and this year I did the same. It's nice that way.

I have noticed a big decline in the amount of card that we have been receiving via postal mail. We have been getting a lot of ecards and to be honest, I don't like them. You can't really show them off or use them to decorate with.

I just like to pick up a card and look at it when I want. :)

Most of our family and some of our friends are online. So Christmas greeting get exchanged that way more often than not.

As for the others, I used to have a huge list to send out. It has dwindled due to people moving and not keeping in touch. Now, we have moved 3 times in the past 3 years. I've lost most of my addresses, and I doubt anyone will be sending us very many cards. It's difficult to keep up. Perhaps next year I can find those addresses and start updating people.

But I'm like you, Connie. I am careful in the type of card I choose. I figure that most people do not send out cards with a message about the true meaning of Christmas. So we really do try. Christmas is my favorite season and holiday. I love the combination of music, decorations, message, snow, cold, and God.

We don't send cards. My parent used to. We used to fill them out as a family and tape them on a string around our door.

We only get 1-2 cards here, so there's really nothing to display now.

Connie I have at one time sent out over 200 and got even
more back. Now I cannot afford the postage so the ones
who live in California,Michiga,Florida, W Virginnia get cards
mailed out first. I hand them out to family though.

I know what you mean about the price of postage increasing so much. I usually by rolls of stamps and they last a long time. I had to purchase stamps the other day and about passed out when they told me how much they cost.

That is so cool! I love receiving hand signed cards. I use them as decoration. I even display my anniversary cards.

I do send Christmas cards, and I always look for something unique and "me." Mine are not religious, although I do believe it is a religious holiday, I just tend to go for something different when I pick out cards. When my kids were home we sent picture cards every year with a picture of the 2 of them. This year, my cards are very subtle Mickey Mouse (you have to look closely or you think they are ornaments)-because we are going to Disney for Christmas.

I do send Christmas cards. It seems that fewer people take the time to do so and that's sad. I try to keep with the tue theme of Christmas, the birth of Christ. I look for cards with a manger scene on them.

I love to send cards at Christmas. I hand write the names of everyone in the home, and write a little something at the bottom. I have about 15 cards ready to be sent out.

I have three cards already. I tape them to the glass door above the computer desk. That way I can see them while I am sitting here. I don't send too many out anymore but I do hand deliver quite a few. I have two boxes of cards, one with religious messages and one with an assortment of different scenes, usually snowmen or santa. I like to pick a special one for each person I am giving one too.

I haven't sent out cards for the last two years, but I am going to this year. I'm sending them to my family, and a few friends online.

I have received one card, from Melissa G on here. So far that's the only one.

I send out about 200 cards each year, all of them are art-based designs, not religious themes (although some may contain copies of well-known religious paintings, if they are nice!) I do not like verses within the text of the cards - just a simple greeting.

We have travelled a lot during our married life and this is one way of keeping in touch with friends and family members we may not see frequently.

Do you send Christmas Cards? I love to send Christmas cards. I always buy personal cards for my family, but end up sending boxed cards to most of my friends. I make sure that I like the sentiment in the cards before I buy them, though.

Are you particular about the verse and picture on the card? I love the Christian cards, but they are hard to find in a boxed version unless you order the expensive ones from GuidePosts.

Connie I think I am a little anal about Christmas Cards. Yes I send them out, Yes I try to choose a pretty picture and am particular about who gets what picture on their card. I just bought my Christmas cards the other night and am waiting to find the perfect moment to sit down and address them. I got my first card on Wednesday from the girl who cuts my hair. I was so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hang them along the wall and the back of the cabinets in the dining room which can be seen in the living room too. You know where.

Yes, I send Christmas Cards out, about 100 each year. Some of the family that we see or we lived closed to we hand them out, the other family member I mailed. We sort the church Christmas Cards by their last names, and put them in the mail box we have for cards, at church. I'm I picky? Yes I read them, before I buy them, I usually wait till after Christmas, & buy the cards for the next year. We put the Christmas Cards we recieve, around the door facing, between the living room and dining room. No I haven't recieved any cards yet.

Yes I do, I actually sent a bunch with my brothers to Denmark already, and my mother in law got some with her for New Jersey friends and relatives, as well as for some relatives in Jamaica.

I found some really nice cards for 1 dollar for a 16 pack at Dollar Tree, and they say something with "With the warmest wishes for a wonderful holiday season", something like this anyway. I thought the warmest part was perfect, since we live in Florida and everyone else (except for our friends and relatives in Jamaica) are freezing right now. I also made sure that there was no snow photo on the front of the card:)

With the Christmas card we sent a personal letter and photos of our boys.

I sent out cards to family and friends, probably about 45 but haven't done them yet and I usually send more then I receive. LOL I do try to pick out the cards for each person.

Wow, 2007? No I don't send Christmas cards. I used to send out about 300 to 400 every year but stopped after I retired and I'm so happy that I did. Now I don't send anyone one .... Woo Hoo, free at last, free at last! I still get them though! LOL!
