Welcome to a city that one day will be destroyed by a Stratavolcano...again.
Before I forget, any Wombat getting The History Channel, should check out a program on Saturday called "MegaDisasters." It's a special on the dangers of Mount Vesuvius...and essentially substantiates all the fictional claims made in my (hopefully one day to be published) novel, Dream War.
But let's not let the potential deaths of nearly 3 million people destroy our fun. It's vacation time Neapolitan-style!
Naples is a warm, dangerous, charming, and hostile city. It houses the MOST historical pieces of art in the entire world. Even their shopping malls are elegant.
And what would a day in Italia be without a café?
Enjoy the views from the Volermo.
Have the locals cook up a dish of "pasta di cretini." (see Sy for translation ;-)
Say a prayer at the Duomo.
And always...make sure the cauldron atop Vesuvius isn't smoking...
So the question/topic. Is there somewhere or someone that/who you know you should be afraid of/stay away from but you just cannot?
