I was working doing what I do, painting on slate when I reached a stopping point and glanced out the window and thought - gee, it must be late because it's dark outside.
Then it hit me, it's snowing BIG TIME.

I grabbed my camera and headed for the main floor where the views are best and there was my husband watching in awe as the snow was traveling sideways because of the wind. It was lovely.

I took a few photos and the end results were not what I wanted. I need to learn how to protect my camera and get outside to get the full effect. Windows are OK but not like the real thing, especially with screens on the windows.

It lasted about 15 minutes. It was over by 4:15 and it ended in a beautiful sunset coming out just as the skies cleared. The only west exposure I have is through my glass room on the back of the house and well, see for yourself.

This is dedicated to all who live in warmer climates - at this very minute my hands are cold, my nose is cold and I would like to be somewhere warm. If only I had a sauna...

(If you haven't yet, please take a look at my novel, The Friend Behind the Mask--First Chapter, I've entered it in the Court TV Search for the Next Great Crime Writer contest, and would appreciate your vote and comments. Thanks!!!)
i need to get a good plastic case, but here is what i do in times like these. take a big siplock bag - put it around your camera. have the opening ziplock part be over the lens, just over it a half inch - so that it covers it a bit, but doesn't get in the way of the photo. put a rubber band around the bag and the end of your lens. if you keep the lens out of the driving part of the rain or snow, you'll be fine!
Glad i stopped..jesse posted a great tip...gonna use it!
to see the foliage this fall. It's beautiful up there.)
Very pretty!

And I-5 to Seattle is open. It was under up to 10 feet of water. What happened was a Pineapple Express...warm and wet. So, in addition to more than 48 hours of steady rain, some of the snow pack melted. Because I was only inconvenienced by slow traffic and flooded freeway (exit and re-enter), it doesn't seem real that Washington and Oregon are declared disaster zones. But, there are a lot more people needing the Food Bank. At least it is Christmas so more people will give.

BLESSED be all soldiers who stand at the front doors of injustice,
Who lay down their lives for freedoms never questioning the judgments!
For the Lord is with them as they uphold the Laws, in God's mighty kingdom their lives are not lost!
