Yesterday I created a new group here on Gather. A group dedicated to one of my favorite pastimes: going barefoot. It's called Barefooters, and it is not a group for voyeurs or those with foot fetishes, it is a group for people who love to live their lives without shoes and who enjoy seeing photos of other people enjoying a barefoot lifestyle as well.
Many thanks to all who joined and feel free to welcome anyone else who embraces barefoot living. Please post your barefoot photos and stories about barefoot adventures. I will be monderating the group, however, to keep it on-topic. If it's not about bare feet or being barefoot, please post it somewhere else!
I became more of a hardcore barefoot advocate after being recruited on myspace by Jaime, someone who attends college barefoot and spends a good deal of his time with no shoes on.
Do you go barefoot? Do your family members? How do you feel about it? My daughter is totally grossed out by bare feet. But she likes to go barefoot. Odd, huh?

It's gets COLD up here!
David, when I lived in Ohio I was barefoot all summer at the very least!
I would love to go barefoot but with all the junk that one could step on, e.g. syringes, contaminated broken glass, etc., the risk is too great for me.
On one of my jaunts to Acapulco I took my shoes off before I left the United States and did not wear shoes for three months while in Mexico. It was absolutely wonderful.
We allow the grand kids to go barefoot while in the house but for the same reason I stated above we make them put shoes on when going outside.
If I could, and it was socially acceptable, I would go barefoot all the time (except at formal gatherings, of course). But due to age and poor foot care my soles are too tender.
What about you, do you sleep with your shoes on? How about swimming? Well, some do here in Kentucky :-)
I usually wear flip flops, if that counts as barefoot.
So....anyhow...........G'mornin all you gatherites. Top of the mornin to ya'll.
Get yourself a cup of java and sit down and let's talk about this barefootin............................"barefootin?" Wasn't there a song called "barefootin"?
Barefoot is good for toddlers indoors because their feet can grow strong that way.
I have never understood the foot fetish thing tho! Feet are weird shaped smelly things, but they are useful....they get you to good places!
Keep on going on ;-o
That song "Barefootin" is by Robert Parker.
It really depends on what I'm doing. Barefoot does make dancing a bit easier though.
Well, some do here in Kentucky :-)
Might that be due to the revenue'ers showing up at odd times ? ;-}
Keep on going on ;-o
Me, I'm just passing through. Seems like you can't get "there" without going thru Kentucky.
Lydia, You live in Florida not Oklahoma what's with this running around bare foot all the time like and Okie.
When I was younger though, I hardly never wore shoes. I felt like they were suffocating my feet!~
Please visit my postings as I have yours!
When I do wear shoes they're usually sandals or open heel and toe.
Walking through puddles and mud is my favourite hiking. Feel the mud between your toes.Mmmm.
