It's 4am! Do you know where your bowels are? I know where mine are and unfortunately, they are right here still attached. Oh, how I wish they were on vacation in Barbados along with my aching intestines, sore chest, pounding head and my diabetes. In exchange I would gladly accept the joyful return of my energy and logical reasoning power. I guess it was a blessing that my body chose last week (a holiday week) to shut itself down. It was so bad at times that instead of a reboot in progress, I wish it could have just crossed over into an irrecoverable error and gone terminal. But as long as one long, lonely and non-work day followed another, I was able to lay still, watch the tube and at least provide my flesh and bones the opportunity to heal. But now, as John has pointed out as soon as I logged on: It's Monday.
Today, I must be well.
I must get a new cell phone to replace the one lost during my body's health rebellion on Wednesday. I must notify all the important and rtealtive players of my new cell number so i can once again be inundated with stressful but all-important phone calls. I must be downtown San Antonio this morning to obtain a Permanent Certificate of Occupancy for Adams Elementary - already more than 2 weeks overdue - and also to convince the Architect that the change order to replace an older gymnasium floor be in my hands by this afternoon. I also need to locate a five-plus old submittal detailing the capabilities of the VFDs (air handler drives) installed on the roof of Adams; there's nine of them and they're expensive. Some say they're suppose to auto-reset, some say they can't. All are confused and it's my job, today, to unconfuse everyone. And folks, VFD, VAV and HVAC are not my forte. (Oh, for the good old days of just managing bridges and highways).
I also need to be in Bandera, Texas, thirty miles away, while accomplishing all of these other things in San Antonio. I need to be their to meet a man (Supt of Bandera Schools) I have never met; to rectify some issues I have no knowledge of; to form a conclusion on what needs to be done to close out two projects I have never been apart of; and to return keys and drawings which I have no way of knowing if I have them all or not.
And, oh, by the way I have to do all these things without the benefits of my eyeglasses which also disappeared during my latest health sabbatical on Wednesday. Strange things happen when one 'blacks out'. New phone today, hopefully, new glasses by Friday. Well, as I said, today I must be well and to that end I only have a couple more hours of available shut-eye to make it happen. I had figured on being a sleep a lot earlier last night - I mean Vegas 'TOLD' me my Patriots were going to win by 24. They won, but I had to stick around almost to the last second to see it happen. Next week, when I am, most hopefully, healthy, they'll probably beat their opponent by forty again.
If only I could beat my deteriorating body! Somehow I will.
Today, I must be well,
- Robert
ps: And then there's the over-riding guilt that I haven't been healthy enough to read and comment on all the articles and images being brought to my attention while I laid incapacitated. I'll try to get to them.

So funny vickie, do you know my mother? Only she would warm vinegar, water, salt and an aspirin! Make a gargle and rinse 3 times a day. It's gross, but it works!
"Lord, by such things men live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live."
You will not be given tasks to heavy for you to do today, without a tomorrow to finish them. Be at peace, my friend, and rejoice in the day. Wilka
Hang in there.
Do what you must but don't forget to take care of Robert at the same time. DRINK A LOT OF FLUIDS. This is one of the essentials of recovering that is widely overlooked. Dehydration after what you've been through is a big obstacle to returning health.
Don't worry about us. We've missed your comments and uplifting verse, but we can wait.
Take care of Robert first.
