The marketing race get tougher and tougher each day as more and more people compete over the same niches and therefore also the same keywords making it harder and harder to reach the top of the search engine and by that making it hard to earn money.
There are many fantastic products out there that you will have to pay a descent amount of money to get hold of or pay a monthly fee just to use. But as Web 2.0 is over us a lot of new web sites have been popping up with useful functions and often a very user friendly interface that makes it possible to find great free keyword tools
The way you search for keywords has changed a lot the last couple years, and you need to gather more and more information when looking for the perfect word or words. Before you could just type in a word and hit search and if you got a whole bunch of results that was enough, you could make hundred “spam” pages trying to lure traffic to your site or just stuff your page with as many keywords as possible, didn’t matter if what you had written was totally meaningless as long as it had enough keywords in it.
Now you need to carefully choose your keywords in order to drive quality traffic to your sites, and you must find exactly the right words and phrases, general keywords are hard to get any decent traffic from and often you will have to compete against millions of pages.
Think of keywords as the backbone of your marketing campaign, without them you are lost in billions of sites. So where do you really start to gather and evaluate the keywords that is perfect for your campaign or site? Now you will have to think like your customers or visitor will do, what are they really looking for? Say you have a site about dog training, then in your mind you will off course think of dog training as a good keyword, but the competition for that words is huge and you should start dig deeper to find long tail keywords that explain dog training in more details like “how to train your dog to sit” or “dog training collar tips”. The chance for getting ranked high is a lot bigger and you will get more targeted traffic, so it is actually only positive to not go after the million dollar keywords where you compete against million dollar companies.
Now you only need to get out there, and find the tools that will help you end up with your list of super targeted keywords. The choices are many and every day new sites and software’s get released into the market making you research easier. There are many paid services out there and you should spend some time looking for the one that suits your need the best, they are all pretty good, but the price vary and they often shows different results and include extra options and tools.
But if you want to start out easy, there is no need to spend any money. You could use one of the many free online sites that is devoted to keyword search, and a great deal of them do a darn good job finding profitable keywords, they are of course not as good as the paid options, but way not start using the free ones, and when you see some profit you could spend some of the earned money on a more professional tool.
I have made a list of 37 free keyword tools that is available online, and given them a short description on how they work and if they really are worth using. Also you can find a short list at the end of the most popular paid options.
