Thanksgiving with friends

Diane, Richard, Sam, John, Anthony, Jane & Tom - Craig had not arrived yet and I took the picture.

 

We had originally planned to spend Thanksgiving with a bunch of friends at the nearby beach park as we did last year...but too many of them had made other plans early this year and we then decided to have a very untraditional Thanksgiving meal and enjoy it as a picnic....

When one of our friends realized that was what we were planning, she invited us to her home for the meal with other friends and would not take no for an answer....so we got our arms twisted and took her up on it.... Glad we did.  It was a lot of fun and the food was plentiful and delicious!

I made the green bean salad I mentioned a few days ago to take over to share.

For some reason the pictures came out with an amber glow....no idea why.

We enjoyed pupus made with rolled up smoked salmon filled with seasoned cream cheese and an asparagus to start, along with a mixture of nuts and other tidbits.

 

 

The turkey was huge.....20 pounds for 9 people!

The menu consisted of Turkey, Mashed Potatoes with butter and cream, Southern Style Yams, Homemade Cranberry Relish, my green beans, rolls and then pies for dessert, both a pecan pie and two pumpkin pies.

Thank you Jane & Tom, we had a very nice time!

I don't know Sonia, I'd say the photos turned out pretty good!!! The 'amber' glow gives them a soft candle look. The food is making my mouth water all over again.

That turkey is just gorgeous! And the rolled smoked salmon - I don't suppose that would be too hard to make? That looks like it was just divine. Glad that you had a good day surrounded by friends - as it should be.

Yes, it was Tonia....! The smoked salmon roll-ups were delicious. Jane said she had just taken cream cheese and seasoned with salt, garlic a bit of Worcestershire (I think that was all) then rolled a piece of asparagus in it and then the salmon....

Our Christmas Eve is usually just a light but fancy meal of hors d'oeuvres and I think these will be on my menu that evening!

Sonia, I have to tell you that I was calling for Tonia to look at your salmon rolls as soon as I hit that photo! She came over and proudly announced she had already found it! I know these are in my future! :) Can we have the actual directions..uh..recipe?

Deb wants to know how to prepare the asparagus. I assume it is cooked and then chilled? She wants to know if it is firm or soft?

This looks like a nice time with friends at Thanksgiving.
Your photos were great. (and the turkey was HUGE)

Jessie, my son has a big collection of the Hawaiian shirts...he has found some really neat ones and some of the 'older' original designs in second-hand stores....like a shirt that would sell in a specialty shop for $200 he bought for $12!
