To support social and emotional development and to provide positive guidance...
Both social and emotional development are gained as the infant interacts with their parents as well as their caregiver. Babies experience positive relationships through daily interactions of warm, loving, consistent care. Through this kind of care, they learn trust and security. I ensure that I am always available when they are tired, need to be fed, are crying, want to play or just need to be conforted or held. Their needs are always met promptly.
I ensure that they have an environment that is safe for them to explore. I encourage them to explore on their own but am readily available for them whenever they need my help. I enable them to play together whether it is through playing a simple game, reading a book, singing a song or simply on their own.
Each and every morning I greet each child with a smile and a "Good Morning" followed by his/her name! This makes them feel special and welcome. I try to avoid conflict by providing numerous toys, books, games and activities for them to participate in. I encourage them to share and take turns. Sometimes this can be a challengs, so I use positive redirection. I offer praise when they do something nice, us nice words or learn something new. I sit with the toddlers at mealtime and encourage them to use good talbe manners as well as socialize with one another. I ensure that their environment has many options and choices in which they may choose from in order for them to build a strong sense of independence. By setting a positive exampls and using appropriate actions, they will learn and develop important and crucial social and emotional skills.
