If you follow the yellow brick road for a long time (70 years to be exact), you just might end up on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame. Long ignored for their role in the Wizard of Oz, the Munchkins have finally earned their star. Seven of the none surviving Munchkins who appeared in the movie (earning $125 per week) were on hand to recieve the honor, as was the son of Judy Garland who stated that his mother "...would have been proud."
The award was the result of a campaign led by a Chicago movie theatre owner who befriended some of the Munchkin actors a few years ago. It was supported by Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and Garland friend Mickey Rooney.
