don't shop black Friday, but,,,passed on your advice which I thought very good,,, hope your Thanksgiving was super too!!!

Also, from one who works in the field: Make a list beforehand of your favorite stores. List what you really need. Check the doorbuster/early birds and decide BEFORE hand what you really want. Cross check your lists to make sure you can't get the same or similar item at a cheaper price elsewhere. List which stores are ONE and TWO day Doorbuster. Make sure that the store you are going to and the branch you are going to is open at that time. Some branch stores are not open at the early hours the main branch stores are.

And keep in mind this: Many sales right before THANKSGIVING are better than the prices on BLACK Friday EXCEPT for DOORBUSTERS.

Don't forget right before CHRISTMAS and JANUARY/February.


Stores are taxed on Inventory left over after February so they clear EVERYTHING.

Think ahead.

Ornaments do not have a 10 day price adjustment policy.

Good Advice! I am THANKFUL today for your articles and help!

My oldest two teenagers made money by getting in the line teh night before with a sleepbag and chair. They started at 10am, stayed until 2am and was releaved by an adult who had several items to buy at the electronic store. She paid him 100 dollars. She ended up saving over 2400 in her purchases. She made the agreement ahead of time and he was paid cash for his effort.
My other son was at another location in the same complex and made 50 for staking a spot from midnight to 2am. I charged them 20 bucks to sleep in the car and make sure it all went down alrght.
Goes to tell you a smart person can always make money out of a situation. If you live in town where there is a huge crowd..consider selling warm-up breaks so much per hour. kid selling hot coco for 1.00 a cup.. get the idea?

I have a better way to save money on black friday..... not go! Best time of year to buy presents is during the year, buy a couple things on sale or at clearance prices and stock up for christmas. This has been working for me for a long time.

donald, I am all for kids making money..but I would be concerned about their safety...My daughter who is 19 went out to the mall at midnight on thanksgiving..she said the people there were really weird and a bit scary!

I didn't shop on Black Friday ( or Saturday, for that matter), but there was a big article in the Boston Globe about shoppers FROM IRELAND coming over to shop at the high end outlets around Boston on Friday - beginning at 4:30 am! Many shops opened at 4:30 or 5 am, which amazes me. Tons of shoppers, too.

Mandi=Both the boys play varisty football, one is going to play for college. I was also not far away in the car. They could call and I be there in minutes.

Jamie- I have found super deals on Black Friday that I have never been able to match any other time of year like complete computer system (17" flatscreen, computer loaded with software, speakers, and 3-1 printer)for 200 dollars with no rebates to send in, laptops for 300 which included 3-1 printer, case, mouse, and I bought 2 of them so I got a security suite software, and speakers for both laptops. About 840 including tax I got all this.

Veterans-Military- MS Office has a Military Appreciation version you can get for 70.00. Also you can get free SAT Test material online.
