Is it called "right wing" because they are right?

I didn't know where those terms originated, but now it makes a lot of sense.

It was all the direction how they faced I guess. And we know they DIDN'T face Marie Antoinette. She didn't want the aristocracy to share power with anybody and look what happened to her !!!

Oh - and the clergy was over with the aristocracy - I forgot to include them. OOPS!!!

The term originates from the French Revolution, when liberal deputies from the Third Estate generally sat to the left of the president's chair, a habit which began in the Estates General of 1789. The nobility, members of the Second Estate, generally sat to the right. In the successive legislative assemblies, monarchists who supported the Ancien Régime were commonly referred to as rightists because they sat on the right side. It is still the tradition in the French National Assembly for the representatives to be seated left-to-right (relative to the Assembly president) according to their political alignment.

Personally I find that the terms of years past such as liberal and conservative have a different meaning today...and you are either right brain or left brain....that also determines your personality and thinking process....for example most artists are right brain......and they ten to walk to a different drummer....even the musicians....not the lefties...tend to lean toward math and similar subjects....thus your conservative...
