Why I'm carrying a knife.
Things here are starting to change, movement in large quantaties of goods going to my buddy at the 2nd hand store, getting ready for the load out when Mom is actually gone.
I'm socializing Chaka too for the first time in her life. We go to the store together in the 'redneck two-seater', she is being introduced to other people, dogs, areas... slowly.

I won't walk her IN the neighborhood because I feel it would just encourage her to try to get out of the cross-fenced yard, something she's never tried to do.
BUT I do walk her on a country road a couple miles away when I can get away from the house. She's relearning to WALK not pull at my left side, and all without (so far) a choke collar.
She is a fairly big strong dog though and nearly as hardheaded as I am.
So I have added the belt knife to my daily wardrobe. It's five dollar chinee cheapy with WINCHESTER on it and actually a pretty nice blade. I use it to open cans, cut away the ever creeping briars here and many things..

I probably own two or three DOZEN folding pocket knives, maybe more as I used to sell them at the market at times.
THIS I can feel in an instant and jerk free if I have to...
Chaka is a pit bull mix, and the world is full of other critters.

It's good for everything except for hunting. It cuts the sking well, but the rest of the task is better suited to a real buck knife.
yes it is.. was the first day in weeks I got her out of the house and may be the last for awhile..
Eric;
it's a decent tool.. Wal-mart last holiday, five bucks with nylon sheath.
bet half the things you buy are actually chinese.. my tools etc. I get at antique shows. some things simply can't.
Doesn't seem to matter where we live anymore crime is popping up everywhere.

Keep a nice big heavy screwdriver in the car for jackers and such. Little ole pocket knife isn't scary enough - and can't get in trouble for having a screwdriver - no matter how long the 'blade.'
I once worked for a guy who kept a "razor sharp hatchet" in his car...
another story there too.
apron string.
As I recall his testimony went something like this;
He was asked why he felt threatened; Getz said, the punks had screwdrivers.
The ADA prosecutor said, workaday tools?
Getz said, no, weapons; the phillips head goes all the way through the muscle into the thighbone.
ADA; Move to strike, this man is not a doctor.
Getz; well when I got stabbed with one it stuck into my thigh bone.
ADA; Move to strike, that wasn't in this case.
Judge; the Jury will disregard.
