I would type in MSN groups in search engine. That might be a better option for you. You can also enter other chat rooms, just be careful. You could google "MSN chat" and see what happens. Let me know if you need more help. Good luck!
download myspace im... there are chat rooms there and you can limit the ages of friends who join you on myspace to the age group closest to your own. On msn messenger once you download it go to the file at the top marked help/ and go to product overview..it will explain the ins and outs... basically you can add friends and view them on webcam and vice versa and it has im abilities.... Personally I prefer Myspace Im as it is much quicker although it doesn't have the webcam ability.

MSN groups/> which isn;t chat, but has groups you can join on any subject pretty much, just like Yahoogroups.. and
Google desktop/> I found an article that said MSN discontinued chat, I can't find anything where it says it's still available. Then I found the link above to download Google desktop that says you can search MSN chat when you download it..?? I don't know..
Not sure I haven't had MSN for a long time.
