Ok I thought I would let everyone know what kind of progress we have made on my house that habitat for humanity is helping me build.
Right now all the outside walls are up and all the framing for the inside walls. All the sheeting for the roof is up as well. All the windows are in place too. When I left earlier a plumber was there putting in the plumbing. They have the siding there too so they were talking about putting the siding up today if they have time.
I bought a disposible camera so when all the pics are taken on the roll I will develop and scan them so everyone can see the house going up!
My friend just called me and said my tub is in my bathroom .. yippie!

The siding is going to be a light yellow. My shutters are going to be burgandy. The trim is going to be white and the roof is going to be dark black (someone donated the shingles)
My carpet is going to be a 'harvest wheat' color. The counters are going to be a mix of yellows browns and creams like a marbelized look .. but not marble. Hard to descibe! The cubboards are a solid oak .. beautiful color oak. The tub and the toilets are an off white bone color. The tile is like a yellow beige color. With a 'block' look.
This lady on craiglist was getting rid of some furniture and so I was able to get two twin size beds for two of my kids .. FOR FREE .. how awesome is that!!! I couldn't quit saying thank you to her. I still keep emailing her thank you's! The beds are awesome matching loft beds .. twin size. She gave me a neat computer desk too she had stored in her basement. They were cleaning and reorganizing their house for the holidays and wanted to get rid of the stuff! She said if no one wanted it she was going to end up using it for fire wood! YIKES! I am so gald she didn't and instead gave them to me and the kids. Now I just have to find them mattresses.
I got my youngest son a little 'race car bed' on ebay for $30! With the mattress and everything :) My other son has a bed .. so now we have the beds we need to move in!
On the days I don't cook for the volunteers I have went around to local bussiness's and gotten a lot of places to donate food items for the volunteers. Olive Garden has been the best! The lady who owns the local Olive Garden has donated lunch for two tuesdays in a row now and she is going to continure to bring lunch each tuesday til christmas. She bring lasagna, bread sticks, and salad. All I had to briing was the drinks! Then I have some other people who approached me about bringing lunches so this one lady I met has brought lunches for two weeks in a row on thursday. She lives one block away from my new house :)
I am doing all I can to make sure the volunteers know how much I appreciate them! I want to make sure I provide them with a hot lunch everyday they work.
I figure happy workers will keep coming back .. and happy workers will be more determined to get the job done :)
I love my volunteers it is like I have a whole new extended family!
That and my friend Abe ... he has been awesome! He has been there everyday we have worked and I am so greatful for everything he has done to help me and the kids. he is a great friend and has always been there when I needed him. I am hoping one day to be able to return the favor :)
I think getting the house is exciting ... but getting to see it go up and help with the construction is what makes it even more special. The house is being built with love .. people who want to come and help with the copnstruction .. not just a 'paid building company' Its awesome ... I know when my house is done my kids and I will be surrounded by love :)
