Borders Gift Card problems

I just got a $25 gift card from here, and when I tried to use it on Amazon.com (which is parntered with borders) I ran into a couple problems.

 

#1 - You can only use one gift card per purchase.  I had another one from a differant thing, and it would not let me combine them.   I think that is not right as gift cards should be just like cash, but whatever, I just selected a differant item.

 

#2 - You can not buy things from amazon.com unless they are being shipped directly from amazon.  On amazon.com many things are actually sold by a 3rd party through amazon.com.  You can not use these borders cards on those.  Again, that sucks but oh well.

 

#3 - I made an order, and it charged it to my debit card on file at amazon.com.  I immediately changed it to gift card and it said it was accepted.  I even called their customer service to confirm, and they said the bill would be charged to the gift card.  Well, I checked my account and found they billed my debit card.  I am on the phone with them right now, and they are getting it fixed so that's good.  Still a pain in the butt. 

 

Oh well, I still love gather but thought I would let people know just in case they did not know any of this.

The 3rd one sounds good, but i think in that case HomeDepot is way better than Amazon.

I had that problem, too. I couldn't get it to work on Amazon at all. I finally just gave up, saved up my gift cards, and made a trip to Borders (quite a ways for me). And I was still disappointed because they didn't necessarily have the books I wanted in the store, when Amazon can offer a lot more.

I think it's an online thing, if you go to the store or can call them ask them if you can use more than one there.

Michael, I haven't gotten a card from here, but I did get one and had a different experience. I have an account at Amazon.com and what I did was add the gift card to the balance I already had there. Then when I checked out, both cards were combined that way. You have to do it in advance, before you're heading to check out. I usually apply gift cards first, then shop.

That's why I like the Home depot cards, never a hassle, you walk in, get what you want, and they charge the cards, as many as you have. Not much for a selection of reading materials, though, if that's what you're after, lol.

I got the Home Depot cards in the past and had no problem using all of them at the store. I have never gotten a Borders one. Good to know.

I have heard of other people having problems with the cards online. That's a shame; you think it would be the same as cash. I just go to the stores to use them and have used 2 at a time there.

I didn't have any trouble with my borders card...I went to the borders site and ordered from there (it is a part of amazon but not amazon)
