I love to help others out and I really don't expect anything in return except that maybe one day someone will do something nice for me when I need it. I think it is called good karma or something like that.
I am involved in making QOVs and pillowcases for our soldiers. Well I have notice some people also involved wanting, no demanding they get a thank you back. I can understand wanting to make sure the quilt or whatever get to it destination because we have all had something get lost in the mail. I hate that there are people out there stomping ther feet and whining about not getting recognised for all of their work in such a good gesture. For some of these women a thank you isn't enough. They want the newspaper or other media to print a picture of them with there quilt stating how caring and giving they are.
WHY?

But beyond such psychological mechanisms, giving generates a different attitude in the people who receive. It counteracts some of the hurtful behavior that they have experienced.
For example, I am sure you have had people do rude things to you while you were driving. These actions make us grumpy (in my case) or worse. But have you ever had someone display special courtesy to you when you wanted to get into the flow of traffic or something of the sort. These small acts of kindness, these small sacrifices make those other drivers feel good. "Other people who don't know me are taking care of me. They are being kind to me. Maybe the world isn't so bad after all."
This kind of feeling makes them more likely to be kind in traffic as well. It establishes a new norm for behavior. And that helps us in the long run.
Doing the right thing has it own rewards.
from the soldiers we send things to... they have already given us
enough by fighting for our freedom...
God bless you all...
