Right now, I am taking a break from what has been a day of designing and making hand-made jewelry. I have not been as productive today as I would have liked. Perhaps working while watching LSU's football game on television may have slowed me a bit.
One aspect of my goal for today was to create some pieces with materials that have been in our inventory for awhile. As of late, we have designed and created matching bridal sets for several weddings using both cultured and Swarovski pearls. As always, many of our custome orders were for pieces made with various colors, sizes, and shapes of Swarovski Crystals combined with sterling silver beads and findings.
While we create many other items, beyond the matching bridesmaid sets, our orders during the past month have mostly been for necklace and earring sets, single-stranded bracelets, beaded eye-glass holders and my wife's last order was for a Roasary Bracelet made with all clear Swarovski Crystals and sterling silver pendants and findings. I thought she did a wonderful job and our customer confirmed the same when it was delivered the day after it was ordered.
My creations of the day were different from the norm. I have put together several pieces using different combinations of colors and materials, including semi-prescious stones, glass, wood, and a few different metals. The effort is geared toward boosting our stock for an upcoming "Jewelry Party" that a neighbor will be hosting. It will probably be the last one we will be able to do before Christmas.
Well, I suppose it is time to get back to it....especially if I have any intention of completing the three-strand necklace I have begun before bedtime. One of the things that pulls me off task is checking my e-mail to see what my Gather friends are up to!!!
Thanks for the break.........and for reading.

I think it's great that you guys know how to make jewelry. It's something I've been slowly trying to teach myself for a while now... without much success ;-}
Someone around here should teach a class...
Thanks for stopping by. I would love to post more pictures of our jewelry, but I have not mastered the art of photographing our pieces. I have learned a bit about diffusing the lighting to prevent too much reflectivity. However, my camera's macro setting leaves much to be desired. Its not because I have not put in the time trying......
Yes, I am still around. Working with the jewelry is simply another of the many creative outlets that I have pursued or desire to pursue. But, as they say, ".......master of none." My wife is much more advanced in the more difficult techniques, but I would be happy to give you any pointers I can. There are also tons of websites that offer tips and techniques. Let me know if there is a particular thing you are trying to accomplsh and having trouble with.
Thank you very much............I can't let all my secrets out at one time!
Thank you very much.
If I can ever get the photography thing down.
you do great work, where are your items for sale at?? I wanna see more, give the camera to that son of yours, he will get the photos taken in no time flat...he's a kid, kid are always more experienced at electronics than us oldtimers!
We had some pieces in a few retail establishments in the past, but no longer. Lately, most of our sales are from repeat customers, word of mouth, and the occasional "jewelry party."
You are right on with the kid/electronics thing.......in fact, I will have him bring his own digital from Baton Rouge the next time i pick him up for the weekend. Unfortunately, he is not coming this weekend. He is taking entrance exams for high school.
