Today we went out to Wellfleet to get some oysters and on our way back we stopped at the Eastham Turnip Festival.
Here is the area where we get oysters

We laughed when we turned the corner to the turnip festivsl to see this sign.
They were selling Eastham turnips at the entry to the Elks Lodge where the festival was held.
We had already bought two turnips. The one in the center is the one we bought there. They claim that those are the true Eastham turnips, however, the grower was from Orleans.
Here are two turnip queens entertaining the crowd. Check out their crowns!
My husband bought this T shirt for my daughter.
There were food and novelty vendors. They were also accepting entries for a cooking contest.
There was some sort of arts and craft contest. We didn't stay long enough to see it though.
They even had turnip bowling! See the turnip at the bottom left, that was the ball.
We went outside for some fresh air and we saw two people bringing in the largest turnip that we had ever seen.
It was for a guess-the-weight game. We paid 25 cents for a guess and a chance to win $25.00 if we were right.
We were probably only there for an hour but we had a lot of fun. I hope you did too.
