Is the writers strike fair?

A lot people are angry about Hollywood writers going on strike. 

In a nutshell - the strike is about writers wanting to get paid for their work being shown on "New Media".  DVD, the internet, cell phones, who knows where "New Media" can stop.

I think writers should get paid for their work - even if it is shown in modern ways.  The media corporations don't want to pay them for it.

Publishers and any other outlet always want to exploit as many rights as they can for themselves. That's always been the case, and hopefully it will change.

I didn't this either. I didn't pay much attention to the writer's strike. I don't watch much TV so it really didn't effect me if what I was watching was new or a re-run.

I haven't paid much attention to the strike. I watch mostly documentaries and news shows. I am sure it will affect the debates, where would the candidates be without their witty writiers, lol

I think the strike is fair. The studios/multimedia companies that put out the DVD's etc. make so much money it isn't even funny. The writer's should get paid!

It's a fairly typical case of the big guys getting the money for the work that the little guys put out. It's really not much different than an office job or a shop job... the company reaps the benefits and wants to give the employee as little as possible. I think they have every right and wish them luck in obtaining what they can!

I think it's fair. I'm behind the writers because they deserve to be paid for their services.
Yes, especially if someone hires me to replace one of them so I can get a break. (Tongue in cheek statement. Do not throw eggs!)

I think that they need to get paid way more than they do now... they do write the shows all the actors do is act it out... the writers are what makes the show great... but i sure am going to be sad when all the shows start airing reruns... lets hope this ends soon!

I think the writers should be paid for their work, no matter where its shown. It just doesn't make sense that they wouldn't be paid.

I think they should get paid for all media the show is shown on.

I think if we all cut on the tube and the screen was black, we would have withdrawls.
If the movies shows were closed and the theater was dark. We would be sad. Most of all if we couldn't pick up a book and read it for recreation or to learn. We would still be cave dwellers. Writers deserve more of the action. They have family's too. 10

Actually, I usually only watch PBS so I don't know much of what's out there.

ha ha

But if that's what the writers are writing and it's selling and producers are making money on it then the writers should make their share. I don't care if it's erotica for some cable channel. Pay is pay. This is America. People should get fair compensation for their work if it is in the market place and selling.

Actually, I was watcing that old 60s TV show The Wild Wild West on DVD. I bet none of those writers and actors that worked on it are getting anything from the DVD sales since it was made even before the actors strike.

Some of them could be poor right now as money is now being made on their work.
