I am writing this to help explain why I have not been doing as much returning
comments as I usually do, because for the past couple of weeks or so, I
have been doing the leg work and the paperwork and telephoning and the
traveling, trying to get my son Mark's wife, Gloria, moved from a nursing
home that is about 35 miles from where we live, and another 35 miles from
where Mark works, resulting in him only being able to see her once a week, and
we go together maybe once a month or so on a Sunday to see her, but she
was in a very bad nursing home, an old one, understaffed, and badly rated,
and sadly not clean like it should be. They let Gloria drop out of bed once
when she first went there, and that resulted in spine damage, and then took
her to get an MRI and she was dropped by the ambulance corp on the side walk
as they did not strap her in properly. So now, she needs surgery on her knee
to be able to walk again, she was in for rehabilitation and could walk when
she first went in, now she is in this sad state, so here is my request for
prayer for her. She has a propensity for blood clotting which makes surgery
a big risk. I am hoping this new home will have better doctors and it is near
by so that she can be visited more often. This can happen to anyone, it is
sad, she is only 60. Yesterday she was finally admitted to the nice place,
three miles from us,
For Gloria
Gloria is a pretty name
it sounds like the name of a flower
Perhaps I am thinking of Morning Glories
I have just visited her for an hour
She is in a nursing home
Skilled, it is supposed to be
I am praying it lives up to that name
For she has moved there because of me
I filled out all the paperwork
And had her sign her name
Lots of red tape involved
But you have to play the game
She is lying in a bed propped up
Pillows behind her head
Smiling with tears behind her eyes
I know she feels the dread
She wants to come home so badly
to her husband and kitty cats too
But to me it seems, rather sadly
That this is not about to come true
I wish I didn't think that way
I don't want to forecast her doom
but I really don't know what to say
when I sit with her in her room
She an introverted person
and wont' fight for things that she needs
and when I go to see her
I see in her eyes these deep pleads
Please help me get out of here
And I don't know what to do
I just pray for her and try to bring cheer
If you have a spare one, as a friend of mine
I ask that you please pray for her too
Thank you

You are so right. This sort of thing can happen to any one of us. I'm sorry for Gloria and your son and your entire family. What a terrible time you are going through. Poor lady. She will definitely be remembered by me in my prayers tonight.
why is she in a nursing home?
I'm sorry to hear of Gloria's difficulties. God Bless you for being such a godsend to help her get to a better place. I have said a prayer for her, after I read your article and will continue to pray. *You've posted a very beautiful picture of her. Thank you for making a way to let us see her. Please keep us posted.
Your poem was lovely.
to Gloria. Here I was thinking you were moving her into
a different apartment! I will have her name put on the
prayer roll Elsie plus I will be praying for her also. You are
her guardian angel I just know it! Is there any way that we
could send her cards with happy verses in them? Please
let me know because that can help pick her spirits up too.
You wrote such a loving poem on her behalf Elsie. *smiles*
Hang tough, Elsie...and raise He11 when needed. Systems, and people, need to be kept honest, and shown that compassion is not just for children.

Will pray for Gloria, your son and for you ,Elsie.
Do tell Gloria that she has the power of 'Gather Prople Prayers' and will triumph.
Does she read or listen to music? Crochet or paint pictures? Surely she has some diversion or hobby that she is allowed to pursue in the Nursing home?
Please let me know if she could use anything in the way of books or puzzles that will pick up her spirits!
If she is suffering from actual clinical depression and is that issue being addressed? Is she receiving adequate pain control? Pain is so debilitating.
God bless and Keep you all. Please let me know how and if I can be of any further assistance!

God bless Gloria and her husband and of course you are always on my list.
Blessings
I'm praying for Gloria to get better soon
and come home to her hubby and kitty...
God bless her and her hubby and you for all
you did to get her moved out of that bad place...
Your poem is just beautiful, if heart-rending.
Your voice in this poem is of gentle compassion.
I hope she is able to go home soon. My prayers are with her.
I would prefer you to take care of yourself and your family than leave comments. I'll be here when you return. You are a good friend and I just wish you well.
Your poem is lovely.
You should not go through this all on your own. Gloria must come home or be taken to a place where they really CARE.
We are your faily Elsie and we are concerned about you and yours.
Of course we'll pray. Every day until you tell us that she's home or she's in good hands. Have faith while you wait for God to weave his miracles.
Love Fred
I am sure Gloria will start to improve now that she is closer to you and Mark. Having family close and dropping in unannouced is one way to make sure the person is being treated right. I will join the others in prayer for her and for your family.
